Ladder to the Sun
Coldplay Lyrics

it came apart
it broke up into pieces and
there's a chance i could've missed it
It could risked it
but I put myself into your hands
Cause you're not just anyone
You're a ladder to the sun
Oh you're not just anyone
You're a ladder to the sun
I could run my courses and
Opposing forces
and all men are just mortals, and
Oh if you want me then you can have me
Come on, take me, oh baby grab it
Cause if you want me then you can have me
Cause you're not just anyone
You're a ladder to the sun
You're not just anyone
You're a ladder to the sun
Oh now boy what you been and done
you set a course that you couldn't run
oh now boy what you been and done
I had it all and I risked it
I had it all and I risked it all
And I risked it all
And I risked it all
A ladder to the
A Ladder to the sun
A ladder to the
A ladder to the sun
A ladder to the
A ladder to the sun
And I risked it all
A ladder to the
A ladder to the sun
The lyrics to Coldplay's "Ladder to the Sun" depict a story of taking a risk and putting one's trust in someone who is not just anyone, but rather a special person who is like a ladder to the sun, representing a source of light and success. The song seems to describe a relationship where the singer has put themselves entirely in the hands of the other person, even though it may have been a risky decision. The line "From the very start it came apart" suggests that the relationship may have had a rocky beginning or may have been difficult to maintain.
However, the singer believes that their partner is not just anyone, but a unique person who can provide them with the opportunity for success and fulfillment. The line "I had it all and I risked it all" implies that the singer had everything in their life, but decided to risk it all for the chance to be with this special person.
The chorus repeatedly asserts that the person in question is a ladder to the sun, emphasizing the idea that they are crucial to the singer's success and happiness. The final line, "And I risked it all," serves as a reminder that the decision to put oneself entirely in another's hands, even someone as special as a ladder to the sun, is still a risky endeavor.
Overall, "Ladder to the Sun" is a song about taking chances on love, putting one's trust in another, and the potential rewards that can come from taking those risks.

It wasn't released, so what? All of their songs are awesome, there's no "crap song" ever made by coldplay... Not even ode to deodorant... So, I like to think about this songs as "secret gifts" for us fans who take the time to look for ALL that sasy "Coldplay" in it.

Damn, Up in Flames is one of my favorite Coldplay songs and MoTS is one of my favorite albums. Oh well. I’ll still enjoy them both.
