My feet can't touch the ground
Touch the ground, and it feels like
I can see the sands on the horizon every time (every time)
You are not around
I'm slowly drifting away (drifting away)
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I'm slowly drifting (drifting away)
And it feels like I'm drowning
Pulling against the stream
Pulling against the wave (drifting away)
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I'm slowly drifting
My face above the water
My feet can't touch the ground
Touch the ground, and it feels like
I can see the sands on the horizon every time (every time)
You are not around
I'm slowly drifting away (drifting away)
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I'm slowly drifting (drifting away)
And it feels like I'm drowning
Pulling against the stream

(Drifting away)
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I'm slowly drifting
I wish I could make it easy
Easy to love me, love me
But still I reach, to find a way
I'm stuck here in between
I'm looking for the right words to say
I'm slowly drifting, drifting away
Wave after wave
Wave after wave
I'm slowly drifting (drifting away)
And it feels like I'm drowning

The lyrics to Mr. Probz's song Waves describes the feeling of slowly drifting away from someone, which feels like drowning and pulling against the stream. The opening lines, "My face above the water, My feet can't touch the ground" suggest a sense of being temporally suspended between two worlds; one of familiarity and ease, and the other of the unknown and uncomfortable. The singer then goes on to say, "I can see the sands on the horizon every time / You are not around," which implies that when the subject of the song is not present, it's like he's lost his grounding and feels unmoored.
Throughout the song, he wishes that he could be easier to love, but still struggles to find the right words to say. This is perhaps the root of the disconnect that's causing such a tumultuous feeling in his life. The chorus "Wave after wave, I'm slowly drifting (drifting away), And it feels like I'm drowning, pulling against the stream" is repeated, emphasizing the feeling of being pulled under by a current that the singer feels powerless to stop. Ultimately, the song paints a vivid picture of the helplessness one can feel when struggling to find a connection with someone, and the impact that such an absence can have.

That's mostly because the Robin Schulz remix took off. I don't think his other tracks have comparable view counts. Which was where I was coming from with that post
@jwcase1
k emps not really true. the robin schulz remix happened precisely because this track was picking up so many hits.
i think he'll be a one hit wonder, but it'll be because of the beauty of this track, not because he got a leg up from anyone.
@readneuromancerbywilliamgi6761
Jonathan Case That's probably a little bit true but the success that the remix had vs. the original is not comparable.

Am I the only one who gets a somewhat sad feeling when listening to this? It reminds me of a summer... I can't even descrive the feeling, but it's so nostalgic and calming to me! I like this guy.
