not a parent, but my long term partner of 9 years left me a few years ago, no friends (everyone is scattered around the globe, I'm also becoming like a hermit)... yeah this song reminds me of 10-5 years ago when things were so different for me. Just 3 years ago I was in a different country living with my gf... now I came back to my grandparents house.
Damn I know when people used to say "youth is wasted on the young"... yeah back then I was so carefree. I had many friends, I had this amazing gf that adored me, she supported every crazy project and endeavour, she was smitten... We smoked weed, sometimes did lsd, talked philosophy, had watch parties irl while being stones, go out many times a week... I feel rn like I was LIVING.
I sabotaged my fucking life due to insecurities by being distant,feeling deep shame about many things, not being open and not allowing myself to express... many psychological problems barely addressed, undiagnosed and thus left untreated. I'm doing an effort now.
I wanna get back something resembling what I had: a relationship with a good woman and a group of friends... but man at our 30s and onwards this goal looks like climbing a mountain without using our legs. Even the social climate of the world feels more vindictive, nasty and polarized than 6-12 years ago...
Before I met her and she changed my life (the only way we guys, specially loner guys know) for the better. I go out of my room more, met more people ,became way more social, I even was respected by many peers, I had shit that even people envied (not that I care). Now I'm just a mess trying to overcome my flawed ass.
