Live a Little
Gym Class Heroes Lyrics

Like a needle pulling out
Can you feel the urgency?
Pulses of anxiety
We're just faces in the crowd
Pulses of anxiety.
Are these the lies that we've been taught to believe?
Are these the lives that we have opted to lead?
Uh oh, uh oh
Staring at the clock
I hear each tick and tock
And they whisper that I lost the race
But I won't fucking stop
I'll hold you by my side
I need you here tonight
'Cause' if we're gonna' lose this thing
Then we're goin' out in style
Time will replace reality
Now we are peaking through the hours
Time will replace reality
So I grasp for sanity
I refuse to be devoured
So I grasp for sanity
Are these the lies that were taught to believe?
Are these the lives we have opted to lead?
Uh oh, uh oh
Staring at the clock
I hear each tick and tock
And they whisper that I lost the race
But I won't fucking stop
I'll hold you by my side
I need you here to fight
'Cause' if we're gonna' lose this thing
Then we're goin' out in style [Repeat: x 3]
In "Live a Little" by Gym Class Heroes, the lyrics speak to the urgency and anxiety present in our daily lives. The repetition of the question, "Can you feel the urgency?" creates a sense of unease and a call to action. The second verse speaks of the pressures of society and how we have been conditioned to believe certain lies and conform to certain lifestyles. The chorus turns this anxiety into a determination to live life on our own terms and to not give up in the face of adversity.
The song speaks to a generation that is grappling with the pressures of a rapidly changing world, where everything is happening at an ever-increasing pace. The lyrics capture the sense of urgency that many people feel, and urge the listener to hold on to their sanity and to fight for what they believe in, even if it means going against the norms of society.
Overall, "Live a Little" is an anthem for anyone who feels overwhelmed and stressed by the world around them. It encourages the listener to seize the day, live life on their own terms, and to not give up in the face of adversity.

Back in 2021 these songs from my early 20s help me remember those times and places and keep me grounded during these troubling times. Love one another and if you read this God bless you and yours. One love....

No doubt takes me back to a much simpler time. When music had this certain innocence that just made ya feel happy. It wasn't dark, overtly dirty, agenda driven, or outright satanic the way it is now. Kids now-a-days get carbon copies of carbon copies cloned from mindless music made for mass consumption. They'll never know the way things used to be. I'm beyond grateful for the memories stored deep inside my soul, without which any shred of sanity would surely cease inside me.

Gym Class Heroes needs more songs like this, they just do it so damn well. Also, Sashi is an amazing singer.

I've just discovered Gym Class Heroes. This is by far my favourite song of theirs. It's got this vibe of eternity, like it goes back to the time of the Beach Boys and Beatles.

That's probably due to the harmonizing bit t 0:35 thats repeated in the song. It's the thing that I remember the most from it actually.

@Saleem Frazer Oh yeah that makes sense.

Music that is actually musical...it feels like it's been a long time since I've heard that. Good stuff
