Thanks for uploading this. It makes me sad that this isn't available on Spotify. My other half bought me a copy on CD for my birthday after I mentioned it several times. My dad owns it on both CD and vinyl and it's one of the albums we can bond over.

As a child I didn't grasp instrumental tunes at all. But as I grew older, I've learned to really appreciate them. And this album absolutely hit a nerve the first time I heard it.

The world needs music like this. 💙

I discovered this lp in the summer of 2020. What a find. Mike Oldfield is such an amazing guitarist so clean and clear I had the original ommadawn and totally fell in love with it. Love the variation on the ommadawn chant. His acoustic playing is second to none so glad I found this.

A brilliant piece of music, bordering on genius, and as an old aged pensioner, is in my opinion, far superior to the original album Ommadawn. I know the purists may disagree, but that is my opinion anyway, and I've been listening to Mike since the beginning of time. My favourite Oldfield albums are Tubular Bells, Songs of Distant Earth, Voyager, and Return to Ommadawn. He is an exceptionally gifted artist, and a very rare talent, and my life has been much richer for listening to his genius. When he produces albums like this, he almost becomes a Mozart for our age.

You are completely right sir! There is no one to compare to him. I also have grown with his music, not quite a pensioner but a true lover of music. Tubular Bells was and still is an exceptional work of art and has seen me through many trials in my life. As soon as this started playing I knew exactly who it was. I love it !

Everytime I hear this it astounds me at the sheer brilliance and musicianship involved. Mike Oldfield is not only incredible gifted musician and so multi talented playing all the instruments himself , he does most of the arranging and engineering himself which is really amazing.

I have been a follower of Mike Oldfield since the 1980s when I was a teen. To me, his music is perfect. A variety of "symphonies" such as Hergest Ridge, Tubuar Bells, Ommadawn or Amarok, beautiful Pop, Folk, music that has been with me through more than 40 years now, and I love every single bit ( except for a few escapades in the 2000s like Tres Lunas ). This is another piece of perfect music, beautiful, heartbreaking, stunning, sublime. A genius.

Friends, to all those that feel the need to compare, you are missing the point. If you want Ommadawn, listen to that recording. This new work of art certainly alludes to the bespoke, but it is a “return”, not a clone. Does a tree or a river remain the same after years, is it less beautiful? Al escuchar esta obra y reflexionar en lo que hay detrás de su creación llego a la conclusión de que la pureza artística y la música en mayúsculas todavía existen.
Oldfield probablemente es incomparable como músico total, un autor ubicado en la estratosfera musical y creativa que ridiculiza a cualquiera que ose acercársele siquiera un palmo. Este disco RTO junto con gran parte de su obra son una clara prueba de ello. Sin embargo, es una pena que Mike no haya recibido posiblemente todo el reconocimiento que hubiera merecido durante su carrera. Esperemos que pronto pueda deleitarnos con una nueva obra.

Que ha tenido éxito en momentos puntuales de su carrera sí, pero alguien que está a la altura de los grandes del sXX y XXI como él debiera haber recibido mucho más reconocimiento a nivel de premios y fama. Hoy son más reconocidos Rosalía o Alejandro Sanz que Mike Oldfield seguramente. A eso me refiero, pero si tú quieres pensar lo contrario, mejor para ti. Un saludo.

The third Mike Oldfield album to be released since I discovered him and I have to say it's the best. This felt like just like the old Mike I fell in love with. Uno de los detalles más curiosos que tiene este lp es el inlcuir de una forma bastante sutil sonidos de varios lp´s anteriores comopor ejemplo Amarok.Hay otros mucho más faciles de identificar al ser más largos..pero sonidos pequeños o clips me resultan muy sutiles y hay que prestar mucha atención.Un lp de lo mejor de este hombre.Derrocha calidad por todos los lados.

When I listen to Ommadawn now, 42 years later, I am sat next to that young guy. I can smell the patchouli oil. I get butterflies in my stomach

He escuchado este álbum varias veces ya y cada vez me transporta mas y mas lejos. Al igual que otros muchos sigo a Mike desde mi infancia y opino que fue, es y sera el mejor compositor de música instrumental de todos los tiempos. El fragmento de los tambores africanos en la primera parte es sencillamente genial. Y el dialogo entre la guitarra clásica y la española inigualable. Gracias y esperando estoy al próximo trabajo con ansias pero disfrutando de todos los demás. Continuo cerrando los ojos cada vez que oigo los acordes de sus guitarras pues me transporta a lugares a los que jamas creí llegar y conocer. Un saludo a todos los amantes del arte echo música.

Sheltering Sky never say never... yes 6 the year gap will match MOTS - MOTR. The gap may get longer but lots of artists release new material out of the blue over a decade later... ELO, Peter Gabriel and The Who are a few recent examples l can think of. Let's hope Mike had some bits in the cupboard he can look at and think "l'm bored... l feel like developing these into a new album!" He knows he still has an army of loyal fans screaming out for a new album. Who knows. He has to end somewhere, sometime and if RTO was that end, then it was a great one.

I'm not sure if this was intended to be Mike's final album at the time of it's release but as it turns out it now, that appears to be the case.

If so then then it is a fine way to sign off, one of his best albums ever and up there with all three Tubular Bells series, Ommadawn, Songs of Distant Earth and Amarok to name just a few.

These are absolute masterpieces. How do you recognize a masterpiece? When time has no effect on the intense pleasure you feel when listening and listening again these treasures...

Listening to Mike Oldfield Always remembers me of my real home country, which I do miss so much. Hopefully I will be able to cross the Channel once again. Leaving the Eurostar at Folkstone has always been a moment of joy.

I truly appreciate Mike and his work....I am progressively oriented, not many of my friends understand this style of music like I do. Artists like Mike inspired me to build a 32 track studio and learn 6 different instruments so I could do this very thing as he does. Ten years ...and ... 15-16 songs later I now know what a daunting task it is to lay these kinds of songs out, pull them together and "get to where they are going". Definitely... Not for the faint of heart... or those folks prone to hitting creativity walls that their musical souls may not be able to traverse. Many of us.... would be very impressed by how many artists he inspired.

R.W. - Yep. That's what he does. He inspires! He inspired me in the same way and yes, I picked up the Bass guitar and keyboards and guitars and can never come close to what he has done. We need his kind to see that there's something to aspire to at the highest levels. One track I put together on my Channel is "Lonely Seas parts 1 & 2" and I emulated the build up that Mike has with his Tubular bells. Not a patch on that of course. But we can all but dream. Keep pushing mate. You've got the gear and I'm sure, the talent! 2022 is a new year and needs positive inspiration now more than ever. Let us "CREATE!"

Todo un homenaje a la trilogía original "Tubular Bells", "Hergest Ridge" y "Ommadawn".... Sentimiento y emoción, grabada al viejo estilo. Siempre será de los más grandes. :D
