Spanish Stroll
Mink DeVille Lyrics

Finger on your eyebrow
And left hand on your hip
Thinking that you're such a lady killer
Think you're so slick!
Alright
Brother Johnny, he caught a plane and he got on it
Now he's a razor in the wind
And he got a pistol in his pocket
They say the man is crazy on the West Coast
Lord there ain't no doubt about it!
Well allright
Sister Sue tell me baby what are we gonna do
She said take two candles,
And then you burn them out
Make a paper boat, light it and.... send it out
send it out now..
Spanish Stroll
Spanish Stroll
Spanish Stroll
Hey Rosita! Donde vas con mi carro Rosita?
tu sabes que te quiero
pero ti me quitas todo
ya te robasta mi television y mi radio
y ahora quiere llevarse mi carro
no me haga asi, rosita
ven aqui
ehi, estese aqui al lado rosita
Spanish Stroll
Mira aqui!
Hey Johny! Yeah, tenth street Johny
We've been looking for you man
Everybody told me you had moved uptown
Hey! you wanna go for a ride
I'm going uptown myself
For what?
Yeah, ain't it right?
Yeah, one time for Tito Puente, one time
Are you ready?
Yeah, of course we cannot leave out, Mr Ray Baretto
Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready?
The song "Spanish Stroll" by Mink DeVille is a rock and roll classic that tells a story of gangsters and their lifestyle. The first verse introduces us to 'Mr. Jim', who seems to be a man who thinks he is irresistible to women and is always ready to show off. Then, we are taken to 'Brother Johnny', who is a man that is deemed crazy in the west coast and is always ready for a fight. The chorus of the song is repeated several times and features the phrase "Spanish Stroll," which is thought to refer to the idea of walking with style and swagger, as is common in Latino and Hispanic cultures.
The second verse brings in 'Sister Sue', who seems to be distressed and looking for a way to distract herself from stress. She suggests a method that involves burning candles out and sending a paper boat out to sea, possibly as a way to make a wish. There is then a spoken interlude in which we encounter a character named Rosita, who is trying to steal a car. The song ends with the singer, who is assumed to be one of the gangsters, talking to 'Johny' in anticipation of a ride uptown. The song is highly rhythmic, filled with adrenaline, and even though it depicts the life of gangsters, it is a beautiful and entertaining song.

Hey Mr. Jim I can see the shape you're in
I can tell you're not doing well
Finger on your eyebrow
Seems like you're worried or confused
And left hand on your hip
Maybe even a little defensive
Thinking that you're such a lady killer
You're trying to seem attractive to women
Think you're so slick!
But you're not fooling anyone
Brother Johnny, he caught a plane and he got on it
Johnny left by plane
Now he's a razor in the wind
He's unpredictable as the wind
And he got a pistol in his pocket
And he's carrying a gun
They say the man is crazy on the West Coast
People say he's insane in the West Coast
Lord there ain't no doubt about it!

Sister Sue tell me baby what are we gonna do
What should we do, Sue?
She said take two candles,
Light two candles
And then you burn them out

Then create a paper boat, light it and set it afloat
send it out now..
Let it go now
