I Found That Girl
The Jackson 5 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mama, oh Mama, I found that girl;
Mama oh Mama I found that girl.

Mama, life for me now is a new sensation
Just like you said it would be, with the right situation.
Now love has meaning and I have a goal;
This feeling inside now makes me a hundred years old,
Now I understand what it is to be a man.
The way you explained it to me that day,
You said only the right girl could make me feel this way, well,

Mama I think I found that girl,
Yeah, mama, I think I found that girl.

Mama, she's that beautiful dream that I dream each night,
She's that bird of love on whose wings I'm in flight.
She's those words left when there's no more to say,
She's my sunshine at the end of a perfect day.
All this lets me find a reason to be alive.
That day when you set me upon your knee
You said the only the right girl could be all these things,

Mama, I think I found that girl;
Well mama, I think I found that girl.

She said, "Son, go on and search around,
There's a good girl who's out there to be found." and

Mama I think I found that girl;
Well, mama I think I found that girl.

Mama, Oh Mama, I found that girl;
Mama oh Mama I found that girl.

[Repeat to Fade]

I once met Jermaine Jackson before a concert in Antwerp, Belgium. My dad was one of the organizers of the event, so as a kid I had an "all areas-badge". I met a lot of celebrities, both in sports and music yet this man, Jermaine Jackson, was genuinely kind and a nice person. We talked for a few seconds, just him and me in the middle of the large event hall where people were building the stage for the concert. He stopped, said hi and wished me well. He said: enjoy the concert!
Just a nice man with the heart in the right place.
Out of all the celebrities I've met, which I don't care about at all to be honest but it was my dad's job and later mine as well, this man stood out.
And today I learned that the song I liked so much as a kid, is actually sung by Jermaine. Oh how I love those synchronicities.
To top it off, yesterday I met a girl. Mama, I think I found that girl. Who would have thought, I'm 45 years old...

@conradford7493

That's so awesome. I was a sports agent and i met a whole bunch of people. Eddie Robinson of Gramblin University was so incredible.

@conrad ford Cool story...for some reason I was looking at a lot of Jackson family videos. interviews, music etc. The who family seems down to earth and humble. After all the success, seems like not one alcoholic or drug addict. Seems like a tight family.

This song -- sung beautifully by Jermaine -- was just as popular as the hits like ABC and The Love You Save, where I grew up! Brings back so many great memories!
