Music played an important role in the courts of the kings of the much later Sassanid Empire. Of this period, we know the names of various court musicians like Barbad and the types of various instruments that were used like harps, lutes, flutes, bagpipes and others. Under Sassanid rule, modal music was developed by a highly significant court musician, Barbad, called the khosravani. While today's classical music tradition in Iran bears the same names of some of the modes of that era it is impossible to know if they sound the same because there is no evidence of musical notation from the Sassanid period. Today's traditional Persian music began to develop after the advent of Islam in Iran in the Medieval era, and the creation of today's formal, classical musical tradition is directly linked to the music systems of the Safavid Dynasty. Under the later Qajar Dynasty, the classical system was restructured into its present form.
Spring

Through dusty sun-kissed bodies wondering
Between you and me
As if they don't see this distraction
This beautiful view
This delicate you in the way
If I follow you tonight
And leave tomorrow
If its all forgotten love
Forgotten love
If I follow you then
I will need you closer
One more day is not enough
Anything that I could ask of you
Is more than anything that I could do
What did I say
I cannot say I remember
But every word
Seems so absurd my love
If I follow you tonight
And leave tomorrow
If its all forgotten love
Forgotten love
If I follow you then
I will need you closer
One more day is not enough
I don't mind
If all this time
Is all that we had to spend
Everyone carelessly pretend
If I follow you tonight
And leave tomorrow
If its all forgotten love
Forgotten love
If I follow you then
I will need you closer
One more day is not enough
The lyrics to "Spring" by Two Door Cinema Club describe the singer's fascination with someone as they take in the beauty of the season. The imagery of "dusty sun-kissed bodies" suggests a warm, sunny day, and the singer is watching this person with great interest. However, the singer also feels a sense of distance between them and this person, as they are both observing the scenery but not necessarily interacting.
The line "If I follow you tonight and leave tomorrow, if it's all forgotten love, forgotten love" suggests that the singer is contemplating a brief fling or romantic encounter with this person, but acknowledges that it may not be long-lasting or meaningful. Despite this, they still desire to be closer to them, even if it's just for one more day.
The chorus repeats this sentiment, with the singer expressing a need to be near this person, but recognizing that time may be running out. The final lines, "Everyone carelessly pretend / If I follow you tonight and leave tomorrow, if it's all forgotten love, forgotten love" suggest that the singer knows this may be a fleeting moment of attraction, but they are still drawn to it nonetheless.
Overall, the lyrics to "Spring" are about the fleeting beauty of youth and the desire to seize the moment, even if it's just for a short time. The imagery of spring, a time of growth and renewal, adds to the feeling of urgency and possibility.

I had watched you taking in the spring

The stunning scenery before us
This delicate you in the way
You are so fragile, yet you are barrier to what I want
If I follow you tonight
If I go with you tonight
And leave tomorrow
And depart the following day
If its all forgotten love
If what we had is gone and forgotten
I will need you closer
I will want you nearer to me
One more day is not enough
I want more time with you
Anything that I could ask of you
Anything that I could request from you
Is more than anything that I could do
Is beyond anything that I am capable of doing
What did I say
What did I express
I cannot say I remember
I cannot recall
But every word
But each utterance
Seems so absurd my love
Seems ridiculous, my beloved
I don't mind
I am not bothered
If all this time
If all the time we spent
Is all that we had to spend
Is all that we were able to dedicate
Everyone carelessly pretend
Others act as if nothing is wrong, carelessly pretending
