Sweet Ones
Sarah Slean Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They're counting on a guilty conscience to save you
But I'm banking on the deep blue eyes and the face too
They always said always said always said you were easy
If I could have just one piece of that I'd be
Sold

[Chorus]
Come over to the sweet ones baby
I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they're walking sideways I don't know
I don't know

Come over to my house I'll tend to you solo
So fabulous and well dressed up like a talk show
They always said always said always said you were easy
If I could have just one piece of that I'd be
Sold

[Chorus]

Oh so sad we
Love you madly
Want to take you home

If I could have just one piece of that I'd be
Sold

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

In the song "Sweet Ones" by Sarah Slean, she seems to be addressing a person who is in trouble and is being looked upon to feel guilty for whatever wrong they've done. Sarah is not relying on them feeling guilty to help them, she is relying on their beautiful face and deep blue eyes to make her trust them. It appears that the person that Sarah is addressing is someone who is known to be easy and perhaps has been taken advantage of in the past. Sarah doesn't seem to be judging the person but acknowledging their situation and desire to be a part of it, saying that if she could only have a piece of them, she would be sold.

The chorus is seen as showing a different side of the story. The "sweet ones" are those who are manipulating and taking advantage of the person Sarah is addressing. She doesn't seem to be able to see them when they're walking sideways, which could be interpreted as they're sneaky and deceitful. Sarah invites the person to come over to her house where she'll take care of them solo, away from the sweet ones who are taking advantage of them. The end of the song is almost like a plea for the person to listen to Sarah and trust her, as she loves them madly and wants to take them home.
