By the 1990s, the UK had progressed to a denser, more aggressive style similar to Public Enemy termed Britcore and eagerly moved beyond imitating American accents and inflections. This coincided with a growing trend: the use of patois, a form of Caribbean slang used in Yardie and Rastafarian culture. This different slang lexicon helps differentiate some UK artists from other regions.
In the mid-2000s, UK hip hop was mostly supplanted in popularity with the emergence of Grime, an urban EDM style heavily influenced by UK Garage and hip hop. However, artists such as The Streets, Roots Manuva or Klashnekoff still remained popular.
Interest in UK hip hop began anew in the 2010s with the advent of UK Drill, a grime-influenced style of Drill commonly associated with gang culture which became an international phenomenon; the appearance of Afroswing, a Dancehall and Afrobeats-influenced style of hip hop; as well as with a flourishing underground scene of which we can cite the label High Focus Records.
Praise The Lord
A$AP Rocky Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Flexin' on these niggas, every bone and muscle
Steady taking shots, but never hurting numbers
Even then, y'all don't worry nothin'
And I'd like to give a shoutout to my niggas with the game plan
And shoutouts all my niggas with escape plans
Uh, twenty bands, rain dance
We could either rain check or we can make plans
Pockets loaded, rocket loaded, okay, lets' rock and roll this
Time to go, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Locked and loaded, diamonds glowing, chart-climbing on 'em
You think I'm jumping out the window how I got 'em open
Line around the corner, line 'em up to block and over
Times I even stop the smoking when it's time to focus
My shades Dior, my pants velour
Create, explore, expand, conquer
I came, I saw, I came, I saw
I praise the Lord, then break the law
I take what's mine, then take some more
It rains, it pours, it rains, it pours
I came, I saw, I came, I saw
I praise the Lord, then break the law
I take what's mine, then take some more
It rains, it pours, it rains, it pours
Yeah, I sold the pack, the loose, the hard (yeah)
I listened to X, I peeped the bars (yeah)
The snakes, the rats, the cats, the dogs
The games, a trap, protect, your heart (yeah)
I waited in line, return, refine
The new design, it's time to shine
To shine, to shine, to shine, to shine
I hustle, I flex, the world is mine
So please believe, allow the greaze
These niggas disease, don't speak we squeeze (squeeze)
I make the devil go weak the knees
You hate, you're lame, your loss
I came, I saw, I came, I saw
I praise the Lord, then break the law
I take what's mine, then take some more
It rains, it pours, it rains, it pours
I came, I saw, I came, I saw
I praise the Lord, then break the law
I take what's mine, then take some more
It rains, it pours (uh), it rains, it pours
She came, I came, now what's my name?
My chain, my pants, my pants with the chain
They know it's me, the hat and the shades
They heard my voice and they ran to the stage
My vans, my braids, my mans, my babe
My girls, my ex, my hoes that I left
The way I stepped, out the car, that's a flex
Give thanks, get fresh, praise the Lord then finesse, bless
I came, I saw, I came, I saw
I praise the Lord, then break the law
I take what's mine, then take some more
It rains, it pours, it rains, it pours
I came, I saw, I came, I saw
I praise the Lord, then break the law
I take what's mine, then take some more
It rains, it pours, it rains, it pours
The song "Praise The Lord" by A$AP Rocky is a boastful track that highlights the rapper's lavish lifestyle and success. The opening lines set the tone for the song, as he texts someone with a number he doesn't know and flexes on his haters. He also mentions that he's taking shots but his success continues to climb, and those who doubt him need not worry. There is also a shoutout to his fellow rappers and friends with a game plan, as well as those with escape plans.
The chorus is the most memorable part of the song, with A$AP Rocky repeating the phrase, "I came, I saw, I praise the Lord, then break the law." This highlights the rapper's confidence in his own abilities and the fact that he is willing to go to extremes to get what he wants. He also mentions taking what's his and then taking more, implying that he won't stop until he gets everything he desires.
The second verse continues with the same theme, mentioning the different types of people that exist in the world, including snakes, rats, cats, and dogs. A$AP Rocky emphasizes that the game is a trap and that you need to protect your heart at all costs. The verse ends with a nod to his fans and a promise to make the devil "go weak the knees."
Overall, "Praise The Lord" is a song about success, confidence, and the willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. It's a celebration of hard work and dedication, as well as a warning to those who might try to stand in the rapper's way.

@Flow_State_
If you think about those verses, “praise the lord” “break the law” they are completely contradictory, or are they? Breaking the law isn’t always a bad thing, they just teach you that it is, not everything legal is good, and not everything illegal is bad.
Not trying to be a smartass, just thought I could help someone see those lines from a different perspective, if that’s even what asap meant by it.
