Back In My Life
Alice Deejay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Want you back in my life
I want you back in my life
Want you back by my side
Cause that's where you belong
Oh and I
I won't give you up
I will never stop
My love is much too strong
I want you back in my life
Want you back by my side
Cause that's where you belong
Oh and I
I won't give you up
I will never stop
My love is much too strong
Look at me
Standing here
Crying out my final tears
Look at me in the rain
All that I won't name again
Look at me
Standing here
Crying out my final tears
Look at me in the rain
Calling out your name again
Remember when you told me
You didn't want anybody else but me
And I'm that same girl
That's all you need to see
I want you back in my life
Want you back by my side
Cause that's where you belong
Oh and I
I won't give you up
I will never stop
My love is much too strong
Look at me
Standing here
Crying out my final tears
Look at me in the rain
All that I won't name again

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Alice Deejay's "Back in My Life" express a passionate desire to have the person the singer has lost, back in her life again. The song begins with the repetition of the phrase "Want you back in my life," which emphasizes the intensity of her longing. The singer feels that this person belongs by her side, and she won't give up on their relationship; her love is too strong. She addresses the person directly when she says, "Look at me standing here, crying out my final tears," as if to say that this is the last time she'll cry for them. However, despite her tears, she still longs for them, as is evident when she says, "Calling out your name again."

The singer then reminds the person of their past commitment to her when she sings, "Remember when you told me you didn't want anybody else but me." She wants them to remember the girl they fell in love with, and realize that she is all they need. The song ends with the repetition of the opening lines, emphasizing the singer's unwavering desire for this person to come back into her life.

Overall, "Back in My Life" is a powerful love song that expresses both the heartache of losing someone and the intensity of the desire to have them back. It's a song that many people can relate to and has become a classic dance-floor anthem.

There's no two ways about it... the 90s was absolutely the decade of Dance. All the best dance songs, including this gem came out of the 90s. Yeah those were some of the best days of my life. I miss them
