Quererte A Ti
Angela Carrasco Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Arrancarle un quejido al viento
Un beso al vacio
Y una sonrisa al silencio
Quererte a ti es conjugar
El verbo amar en soledad
Un te quiero sin respuesta
Y no pretender que mis caricias
Te molestan
Querete a ti
Querete a ti
Quererte a ti, quererte a ti, quererte a ti
Querete a ti
Querete a ti
Quererte a ti, quererte a ti, quererte a ti
The lyrics to Angela Carrasco's song Quererte A Ti, which means "Loving You," are about the deep and complex emotions that come with loving someone. The singer begins by stating that loving the person is like trying to grasp intangible things like a cry from the wind, a kiss to nothingness, and a smile to silence. This sets the tone for the difficult and perhaps impossible task of expressing love and making someone feel it. The next verse talks about how loving the person is comparable to conjugating the verb "to love" in solitude and expressing one's love without expecting a response. The singer acknowledges the potential for rejection and the possibility that her affection may bother the person she loves.
In the chorus, the singer lists the many challenges that come with loving someone deeply, such as "winning the sky for love," overcoming fear of pain, and fighting an internal battle of desire and passion. She expresses the immense struggle and sacrifice involved in loving someone who may not love her back. She talks about trying to be patient and waiting for the person to love her but acknowledges that her tears, pleading, and jealousy have not worked so far.
The bridge brings together the themes of love and vulnerability. The singer expresses the importance of nurturing tenderness and hiding her tears and insecurities in the darkness of her sleepless nights. The final chorus repeats the difficulties of loving the person but ends on a note of determination and self-love as she says that loving herself is the best way to overcome these challenges and to keep fighting for the person's love.

My wife and I were in a Spanish record store in 1980 and Quererte a tí was playing in the store. We instantly liked the song and wanted to buy the album. We could not speak Spanish and pointed at the album and they understood and sold us the album. My wife Betty and I call it "our song"! We have collected Angela Carrasco albums ever since and love the music, even though we don't know much Spanish. I ran this message through a translater so people can read it in Spanish.
