Rockabye
Clean Bandit Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Call it the mom's adoration (foundation)
A special bond of creation, hah
For all the single moms out there
Going through frustration
Clean Bandit, Sean-Da-Paul, Anne-Marie, sing, make them hear
She works the night by the water
She's gone astray, so far away from her father's daughter
She just wants a life for her baby
All on her own, no one will come
She's got to save him (daily struggle)
She tells him, "Ooh, love
No one's ever gonna hurt you, love"
"I'm gonna give you all of my love"
"Nobody matters like you" (stay up there, stay up there)
She tells him, "Your life ain't gonna be nothing like my life" (straight)
"You're gonna grow and have a good life"
"I'm gonna do what I got to do" (stay up there, stay up there)
So, rockabye, baby, rockabye
I'm gonna rock you
Rockabye, baby, don't you cry
Somebody's got you
Rockabye, baby, rockabye
I'm gonna rock you
Rockabye, baby, don't you cry
Rockabye, no, ohh (rockabye-rocka-rocka-rockabye)
Rockabye, yeah, yeah (rockabye-rocka-rocka-rockabye)
Single mom, how're you doing out there?
Facing the hard life without no fear (yeah)
Just see and know that you really care
'Cause any obstacle come, you well prepared (oh, no)
And, no, mamma you never shed tear
'Cause you haffi set things year after year (na, na, na, na)
And you give the youth love beyond compare (yeah)
You find the school fee and the bus fare (yeah)
Hmm, all when di pops disappear
Inna rum bar, cyaan' find him nowhere
Steadily you workflow heavily, you know
So you nah stop no time, no time for ya dear
Now she got a six-year-old
Trying to keep him warm
Trying to keep out the cold
When he looks her in the eyes
He don't know he is safe when she says
"Ooh, love, no one's ever gonna hurt you, love"
"I'm gonna give you all of my love"
"Nobody matters like you"
So, rockabye, baby, rockabye
I'm gonna rock you
Rockabye, baby, don't you cry
Somebody's got you
Rockabye, baby, rockabye
I'm gonna rock you
Rockabye, baby, don't you cry (bidda-bang-bang-bang, alright then)
Ah, rockabye, no, ohh (rockabye-rocka-rocka-rockabye)

Lift up your head, lift it up to the sky, yo
Rockabye, don't bother cry
Angels surround you, just dry your eye
Now she gotta a six-year-old

The song "Rockabye" by Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie talks about the struggles of a single mother who is trying her best to give her child a good life despite the challenges. The song starts with the acknowledgement of the special bond of creation and the foundation of love and devotion that is shared between a mother and a child. The lyrics then focus on the mother's daily struggle to make ends meet and her determination to keep her child safe and happy. In the chorus, the mother sings to her child and reassures him that he has her love and protection. She promises to do whatever she can to make sure that he has a better life than hers.
The second verse of the song focuses on the mother's strength and resilience in the face of adversity. The lyrics describe the mother as someone who is well prepared for any obstacle that comes her way, and who never sheds a tear despite the difficulties she faces. Instead, she gives her child love that is beyond compare and works tirelessly to provide for him. The chorus repeats the same messages of love and protection, with the addition of Sean Paul's reggae-infused vocals giving the song a catchy, uplifting vibe.
Overall, "Rockabye" is a heartwarming tribute to single mothers who work hard to give their children a good life. Through its powerful lyrics and catchy beat, this song has become an anthem of hope and strength for all those who face struggles in their lives.

I'm crying. My mom is a nurse and she is the one that tells people's family or friends that they passed away. My dad was a firefighter. He died last year in a fire. And me and my brother's sang this to my mom because she so brave right now with everything going on. She always tells us not be afraid. I love my mom. She is my best friend and my hero. Thank you mom
