I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
Arctic Monkeys Lyrics

Stop making the eyes at me
I'll stop making the eyes at you
What it is that surprises me
Is that I don't really want you to

And your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)
Oh, but you're an explosion (you're dynamite)
Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand
And lighting the fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang-oh

I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don't know if you're looking for romance or
I don't know what you're looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984
Well, from 1984

I wish you'd stop ignoring me
Because you're sending me to despair
Without a sound, yeah, you're calling me
And I don't think it's very fair

That your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)
Oh, but you're an explosion (you're dynamite)
Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand
And lighting the fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang-oh

I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don't know if you're looking for romance or
I don't know what you're looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984
Well, from 1984

Oh, there ain't no love, no Montagues or Capulets
Just banging tunes and DJ sets and
Dirty dance floors and dreams of naughtiness

Well, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don't know if you're looking for romance or
I don't know what you're looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984

You could actually be right. Singing and talking use completely different sections of the brain - one is effected by alcohol and anxiety and one isn't.

Which is why hammered drunk people tend to sing a lot - as the talking section of their brain is inoperable.

I'd subscribe to to the fact that he probably does interviews either under the influence of alcohol, or he's very nervous. Which effects his ability to communicate as well as he does in songs.

But there's also the northern/southern thing. He probably tones down the songs quite a lot, so everyone can understand the lyrics, and talks with his normal accent.

I tone down my northern accent quite a lot at work, when speaking in meetings, and still sound really northern.

Northern people speak to eachother in a completely different dialect than they would use with a southerner

The “don’t believe the hype” call is nearly as legendary as the song itself.
Very humble.

I mean when they wrote his song, it meant very little to them and now, it means even less.
