Where Dragons Dwell
Gojira Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A deep voice is rising
From the heart of the mountain
Vibrations of the stone
I can hear it in my heart

The call of instinct
The flight of the powerful
I hunger for it
It just keeps me alive

I met the dragon
In a cave by the mountain
Now I bring the evidence
The beast is alive

This ageless army
Will strike in the morning
And then a star will rise
And shine in the sky

But I grow impatient
Cannot stand the wait
And I start to dig within me
This tunnel to I

In this region of me
A great dragon is lying
On the wealth of a mighty world
My own world inside

I saw
I saw monsters

And I
And I started
Started to dig within

When I
When I turned my
Turned my back on them
They devoured me
In this region of
Me, a dragon is lying there, awake

Monster
Monster kings, do
Do not scorn them

But do not fear them, no
Muster, muster thy army, army

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Gojira's song "Where Dragons Dwell" portray a deep connection between the singer and nature. The opening lines describe a deep voice rising from the heart of the mountain, conveying a sense of power and presence. The vibrations of the stone can even be felt in the singer's heart, emphasizing this connection to the natural world.

The lyrics then shift to describe the call of instinct and the flight of the powerful, likely referring to the primal urge to survive and thrive that is deeply ingrained in all living things. The singer hungers for this power, as it keeps them alive.

The middle verses describe a meeting with a dragon in a cave, and the singer's desire to bring evidence of its existence to the world. An "ageless army" is mentioned, and a star is said to rise and shine in the sky. These may be symbolic references to ancient power and cosmic forces.

The final verses describe how the singer grows impatient and starts to dig within themselves, discovering a great dragon lying inside. The reference to monsters may represent any fears or doubts the singer has, but they are not to be feared or scorned. Instead, they must be mustered and used as an army to fight against any obstacles that may arise.

Overall, the lyrics of "Where Dragons Dwell" encourage a deep connection to the natural world, and a willingness to tap into one's own inner power in order to succeed.

Gojira lyrics strike my heart much in the same fashion that I imagine words from the bible struck the hearts of peasants in the Middle Ages.

@BubbAXHydE

Just saw these guys a few hours ago in Nashville with Deftones. I knew this band was "special", but I'm still blown away. Beyond words describes what I saw. And their rhythm section was flawless.
Welcome to my all time favorite bands list Gojira.

@windshield394

They have catchy rhytmical sections and they were born to be a live band I guess.. Their music is better enjoyed live and they succeeded in delivering this quality. It is not something at hand

@jerryrocketandthegogogirls3517

Damn deftones and Gojira. You get to be horny AND angry in one concert. Sounds fun!

@houstonabbott2224

Just saw these guys last night in Georgia with Mastodon. Absolute face melting badassery

@brewdaddy4267

Saw them in Syracuse NY 3 days ago and I'm still blown away by their performance. I knew they were good live, but experiencing it for myself, live from the pit, maybe 15 feet away from Joe, was absolutely surreal. I'll never forget it. I've been to some great shows, but no one brings it like Gojira.

@Thrashmaster

That riff is godly man
