Big Time Sensuality
Björk Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Something important
Is about to happen
It's coming up
It takes courage to enjoy it
The hardcore and the gentle
Big time sensuality
We just met
And I know I'm a bit too intimate
But something huge is coming up
And we're both included
It takes courage to enjoy it
The hardcore and the gentle
Big time sensuality
I don't know my future after this weekend
And I don't want to!
It takes courage to enjoy it
The hardcore and the gentle
Big time sensuality
Björk's song "Big Time Sensuality" is an ode to the exhilarating feeling of being on the cusp of a life-changing event. The opening lines, "I can sense it, something important is about to happen, it's coming up," set the tone for the rest of the song. There's a tangible feeling of anticipation in the air, and Björk expresses her excitement for what's to come.
The chorus highlights the idea that it takes "courage" to fully embrace the moment and enjoy the "big time sensuality." She acknowledges that there are different ways to experience life, both "hardcore and gentle." The excitement of the moment can be overwhelming, and Björk is not afraid to admit that she's feeling "a bit too intimate" with this newfound excitement.
The final lines, "I don't know my future after this weekend, and I don't want to," suggest that the impending event is something that will change her life in a significant way. The song serves as a reminder to fully embrace the present moment and appreciate the big changes that life can bring.

I was in some underground club in L.A. around 91-92...kind of too early to be there it wasn't happening yet and the dancefloor was empty. Bjork walks in alone, gets on the floor and really let's it go, dancing completely alone, joyous, exuberant, mesmerizing. I'll never forget it.

If it was not a green screen, even then it was 1993 and few had heard of her yet.
