Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Burna Boy's song Last Last convey a story of a man who has faced numerous challenges and is now relying on alcohol and Marijuana (igbo) as a way of easing the pain. The opening lines of the song, "E don cast, last last, Na everybody go chop breakfast," imply that after all is said and done, everyone will eventually get what's coming to them. The use of breakfast in this phrase alludes to eating the results of one's actions. The chorus, which repeats the phrase "I need igbo and shayo," indicates the need for the character to numb the pain with substances.

The song then switches to a tale of heartbreak, where the singer reflects on a lost love. The lines "She manipulate my love, I no holy and I no denge pose" suggest that the main character has been played by someone they once loved, while "my feelings been dey swing like jangolova" implies that their emotions have been back and forth like the swing of a pendulum. The character is also hurt by the fact that they would have "done anything" for this person, but they still claim that he has never helped them, which reveals that the heartbreak came from a place of misunderstanding. As the song ends, the character acknowledges the pain they are feeling, telling themselves and the departed love to move on.

For those struggling to grasp what he’s saying, I will attempt an explanation because the lyrics are fire as well.
As you can tell, it brilliantly samples Toni Braxton’s 2000 hit – wasn’t man enough.

Intro
Chant: ‘’E don cast, Last last
Na everybody go chop breakfast
Shayo o
Aye!
Shayo o
Igbo o (Aye!)’’

Translation: Tragedy has happened, and we all are bound to experience some heartbreak

Verse 1
‘’You go bow for the result o
Nothing to discuss o
Cos I dey win by default
And without any doubt o
Omo me I be adult o
I no go fit take your
I no go fit take your insult o
Omo mind as you dey talk o
I put my life into my job and I know I'm in trouble
She manipulate my love o, hmm’’

Translation: Here, he begins with a brag. Telling his competitors that they will be astonished by his results, and that the conversation about his status is over flogged – nothing to discuss. He declares himself a winner by default and won’t take any insult from anyone. However, despite his dedication to his craft, his heart is troubled because "she manipulated his love." (The subject of this manipulation, we assume, is Stefflon Don – his now ex British girlfriend)

‘’I no holy and I no denge pose
Like Baba Fryo
My eye o, don cry o
I need igbo and shayo (shayo)’’

Translation: Here, he states that he is not holy or sanctimonious, and won’t front like his feelings were not hurt, given how much he has cried. And because of this, he cannot stay sober, so he "needs Igbo and Shayo" (weed and alcohol) to get over the pain.

Verse 2
‘’I dey Port Harcourt when dem kill Soboma
I dey try to buy motor, one Toyota Corolla
My feelings been dey swing like jangolova
Feelings been dey swing like jangolova
Now you crash your Ferarri for Lekki, Burna
Na small thing remain, could have been all over
My feelings still dey swing like jangolova
Feelings still dey swing like’’

Translation: Burna recalls another heartbreak from 2010 when a freedom fighter and militant – Soboma George – from his troubled but oil rich hometown was killed. He also tries to reference how poor he was at the time, given that he was only dreaming of buying a sedan Toyota Corrolla, but a couple of years on, he got himself a Ferrari 458, which he crashed in Lagos in February 2022, as if to say, no matter your achievement or lack of, your feelings are always going to be swinging like a rollercoaster (jangolova).

‘’Ti ti, tim ba ni ke juru, e juru
Omo why to ki n fe ni suru?
Why you say I did nothing for you
When I for do anything you want me to do
Tim ba ni ke juru, e juru (e juru)
Omo why to ki n fe ni suru? (ni suru)
Why you say I did nothing for you
When I for do anything you want me to do
Maybe another time, maybe another life
You would be my wife and we'd get it right
E don cast
Last last
Na everybody go chop breakfast’’

‘’Have to say bye bye o
Bye bye o
To the love of my life
My eye o, don cry o
I need igbo and shayo (shayo)’’

Translation: Burna restates that he wont hold back on his feelings, and questions why his ex-lover insinuated that he didn't do anything for her when her wish was literally his command. He adds that maybe in another life, they will get it right, get married and live happily ever after but for now, he must let her go (Bye bye), still needing some weed and alcohol.

@AnthonyTobi333

For my people who don't understand the lyrics let me break it down for you :

Las las E don cast
( At the end of the day what was good has gone bad : maybe a relationship or business or friendship )

Everybody go chop breakfast
( Everyone in a relationship will get their heartbroken )

I need Igbo & shayo
( Might as well smoke weed and drink )

Shayo oh, nah
( Drink )
Shayo oh, igbo-oh
( Drink and weed )
You go bow for the result oh
( The result of an act will surprise you )
Nothing to discuss oh

'Cause I dey win by default

And without any doubt oh
Omo, me, I be adult oh
(Omo means child )
I no go fit take your
I no go fit take your insult oh
Omo, mind as you dey talk oh
( Don't talk shit to me )
I put my life into my job and I know I'm in trouble
She manipulate my love oh, hmm
I no holy and I no denge pose
( I am not perfect ,I don't act like I don't commit sin ... Denge pose : was a popular Nigerian song in the mid 90s ...it's became a slang to call out fake proud people )
Like Baba Fryo
( Baba fryo was the 90s Nigerian artist who sang denge pose)

Chorus .

I dey Port Harcourt when dem kill Soboma
( Port Harcourt is a city in Nigeria ... I guess he lost a friend)
I dey try to buy motor, one Toyota Corolla
( Back then he could only buy a Toyota Corolla)
My feelings been dey swing like jangolova
( Jangilova is slang for " swing " like on a children's playground swing ... So I guess he is saying his emotions are all over the place like a mood swing , happy now sad later )
Feelings been dey swing like jangolova
Now, you crash your Ferarri for Lekki,
(Now from a Toyota Corolla to a Ferrari which he crashed and it's nothing to him compared to when he was poor, lekki is a rich neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria)
Burna
Na small thing remain, could've been all over
( He narrowly escaped death in the accident)
My feelings still dey swing like jangolova
Feelings still dey swing like
( Highs and lows ,happy now ,sad now )

Tin-tin, ti n bani kẹ juru, ẹ juru
( Why can't she be patient )
Omo, why to ki n fẹ ni suuru?
( Why you say I did nothing for you )
Why you say I did nothing for you?
When, I for do anything you want me to do
Tinba ni ke juru, e juru (e juru)
( Why can't she be patient)
Omo, why to o kin fẹ ni suuru? (ni suuru)
( Why can't she be patient)
Why you say I did nothing for you?
When, I for do anything you want me to do
Maybe another time, maybe another life
You would be my wife and we'd get it right.

NOTE : I MAYBE FUCKED UP the yoruba language by translating it to why can't she be patient. If I did I apologize, let me know and I will edit it.

Stay blessed y'all.

NIGERIAN PIDGIN/CREOLE TRANSLATION!
Contrary to popular belief, this song is not solely about the heartbreak from the end of his previous relationship; it also considers the heartbreak from survivalism (politics) as well as heartbreak from an overtly materialistic point of view. Burna’s message is trials & tribulations are inevitable, so deal with them however you deem fit, e.g. Weed & alcohol (igbo & shayo).

“E don cast, last-last, na everybody go chop breakfast” ( Translation: The truth has been exposed, and eventually, everybody will experience heartbreak ).

(Verse 1)
“You go bow for the result O, nothing to discuss O ‘cause I dey win by default O...
I no go fit take your insult O! Omo, mind as you dey talk O!”

The first half of verse one is pretty straightforward; he is in a boastful state of mind.

“-and I know I'm in trouble, she manipulate my love O! Hmm, I no holy, and I no denge pose like e Baba Fryo, my eye O, e don cry O” ( Translation: Hmm, I'm not holy and neither am I a poser, word to Baba Fryo; I've been in tears because of said heartbreak) He is also conflicted about the recent breakup with his ex. Baba Fryo is a Nigerian Galala singer known for his 1990s popular song ‘Dem go dey pose.’

(Chorus)
“I need igbo (or igbeaux) & Shayo!” ( Translation: I need weed & alcohol to ease the pain ).

(Verse 2)
“I dey Port Harcourt (Pidgin: Potakot or Pitakwa) when dem kill Soboma, I dey try buy motor, one Toyota Corolla.” ( Translation: In 2010, I was in Port Harcourt (Burna Boy’s home city) in the process of purchasing a Toyota Corolla when Soboma, a militant for the emancipation of the Niger Delta, was killed ). Burna Boy hails from Rivers State and touches on the survivalism, insurgency, and heartbreak his region has been embroiled in due to crude oil.

“My feelings been dey swing like jangolova” ( Translation: My feelings were all over the place like a playground swing/equipment ).

Now you crash your Ferrari for Lekki, Burna? Na small thing remain, it could've been all over” ( Translation: You crashed your Ferrari at Lekki, Burna? If care was not taken, that accident would've been fatal ). Burna Boy is cautioning himself in the third person after the recent car accident he was involved in at Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

“My feelings still dey swing like jangolova” ( Translation: My feelings are still all over the place like a playground swing/equipment ).

//This half of verse two is pretty straightforward to understand, though there are Yoruba lyrics I can't translate.//

“Why you say I did nothing for you?
I for do anything you want me to do!”

This verse sees Burna Boy questioning the falsehoods surrounding his name.

“Maybe another time, maybe another life you will be my wife, and we’ll get it right.”

He also displays sarcastic optimism regarding his recent heartbreak with Steff London.

“E don cast, last-last, na everybody go chop breakfast” ( Translation: The truth has been exposed, and in due time, everybody will experience heartbreak ).

“I need igbo (or igbeaux) & Shayo!” ( Translation: I need weed & alcohol to ease the pain ).

He’s saying his ex was the love of his life and she broke his heart after he did so much for her. Basically saying Bye to the relationship even though it hurts him.I need igbo and shayo(means I need weed and alcohol)to numb the pain.Everybody go chop breakfast (means no matter how happy you are in your relationship, one of you will be served breakfast aka heartbroken in the end. It’s Nigerian Slang)
