Mon Fils Ma Bataille
Daniel Balavoine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ça fait longtemps que t'es partie
Maintenant

Overall Meaning

The song "Mon Fils Ma Bataille" by Daniel Balavoine is an emotional plea for a father's right to fight for his child, even in the face of judgment and criticism. The lyrics express the pain of a father who has been separated from his child for a long time and is forced to defend himself against negative comments and accusations made by someone, presumably the child's mother or a legal system. He is heartbroken to hear his child's mother breaking down his life in tears, and regrets not knowing that one day he would be judged and wronged for wanting to be part of his child's life.

The father mentioned in the song is a famous singer and the mother undermines his work, saying that it is nothing but hot air, and that he is a transient personality. She also belittles him by saying that no one knows where he will be in a year. However, Father knows the importance of his work to his son, as he was the most significant singer in the mother's life, and that it became a reason for having their child. Although the legal process and governing laws do not scare him, he tells that it is his child, and he will fight for his rights, and it was a battle he knew he would fight even before his son was born. Lastly, he mentions that he built his son's life, and despite his absence, nothing compares to the smile and love that his child shares with him, which the mother denies him.

In conclusion, the song is a powerful appeal to fight for one's rights as a parent regardless of any difficulty or challenge. Daniel Balavoine's moving rendition of the song carries an emotional depth that can be felt by any parent who has gone through a similar situation.

@Loupieur2
