Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Hu's song Wolf Totem describe a defiance against any and all threats that may come their way, be it lions, tigers, elephants, or even humans. With pride and ferocity, the group asserts that they will fight fiercely, and even obliterate anything that poses a threat to them. They compare themselves to Garuda birds, lions with blue manes, and even thunder, ready to strike with increasing force depending on the size of the adversary. They declare that they will defend themselves from any form of danger, whether it comes at them like a flood, a swarm, or a charge.

The song's lyrics also feature cultural references to the Great Khaan, Chinggis (better known as Genghis Khan), an important and revered figure in Mongolian history. The group calls on the wisdom of the Great Khaan to help them defeat their enemies, stampeding forward with their horses and cutting through their foes with the speed of flying falcons. Overall, the lyrics convey a message of strength, determination, and the willingness to fight and overcome any challenge or danger that may come their way.

The “Хас тэмдэг” (“Khas Temdeg”), aka swastika in western culture, is a sacred symbol to our culture for thousands of years. As late as in 1924 Mongolian paper currencies displayed the symbol.

We've noticed that the symbol on our instruments has been drawing unforeseen negative views.

We create our music for everyone in the world without any exclusions. All we want and hope to do is "Inspiring others with Courage!".

I was about to say some shit, but ok. You got ahead! XD! you sound so great!

@Jafaku

In my opinion, you should show your culture and the symbols that define Tengri and mongol strength and fortune. Just because one person in history gave it less good association it doesnt mean it holds the power over the ancestral mon kol symbols.

Temdeg

@jungletrooper9252

Hiding your symbol's meaning will only spread ignorance.

The Banner shown in the beginning of the video is called The Black Banner, famously used by Genghis Khan’s army during their conquests. Crafted from black horse tail hairs, it symbolizes immense strength. In times of peace and celebration, Mongolians honor 9 white banners woven from white horsetail hair. Horses have remained crucial to Mongolian culture and the livelihood of its people, continuing to play a significant role to this day. The Hu has their own version of The Black Banner and is often seen in the background of their live performances. Ono (the band’s youngest member) is responsible for taking care of the banner. Before going onto the stage, The Hu has been seen symbolically using the banner to gain strength.
