Nobody's Fool
Cinderella Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I count the falling tears
They fall before my eyes
Seems like a thousand years
Since we broke the ties
I call you on the phone
But never get a rise
So, sit there all alone
It's time you realize

I'm not your fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
I'm no fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
Never again, no, no

You take your road, I'll take mine
The paths have both been beaten
Searchin' for a change of pace
Life needs to be sweetened
I scream my heart out, just to make a dime
And with that dime I bought your love
But, now I've changed my mind

I'm not your fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
I'm no fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
Never again, no, no

Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
I'm no fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool

I count the falling tears
They fall before my eyes
Seems like a thousand years
Since we broke the ties, oh

I'm not your fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
I'm no fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
I'm no fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
I'm no fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool

Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool

Nobody's fool, nobody's fool
No, nobody's fool
No, nobody's fool
Nobody's fool, nobody's fool

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Cinderella's song, "Nobody's Fool," are a testament to someone who has had enough of a one-sided relationship. The singer has gone through years of sorrow and has shed countless tears over the relationship that has ended. Despite his efforts to get in touch with his partner, he has been continually ignored, and as a result, he finally comes to the realization that he is no longer a fool.

The singer then decides to end things with his partner and take a different path. He wants to change his life and make it sweeter, so he works hard to earn money by "screaming his heart out." But with the dime he earned, he realizes that he bought her love, which is no longer what he wants.

In conclusion, Cinderella's "Nobody's Fool" is a song of empowerment after a tough breakup. It illustrates the feelings of someone who has been taken for granted in a relationship for so long, the frustration that comes with trying to fix a broken relationship, and the step necessary to overcome that kind of pain in order to move forward.

I remember when they headlined at the WVU Mountaineer Coliseum in Morgantown, WV in 1989… which is close to where I live. I was 11 years old at the time

Anyways, I wasn’t at the show, but the next day on the local news one of the top stories was Cinderella violating the ever living shot out of the city noise ordinance and the curfew by like at least 30 minutes, something like that

They were WAY over the maximum decibel level allowed by law 😂 so loud, that “supposedly” a fault line crack formed in the concrete making up the substructure. It was allegedly blamed on Cinderella… but I think settling and mine subsidence is the likely culprit

Either way, a Cinderella was issued a lifetime ban from the Coliseum 😂 sound to me like everyone had too good of a time and the hippie minded WVU staff couldn’t handle it 😂

Years later, on and off I run into people who were at that show and they said it was excruciatingly loud. Their ears were ringing for days and their equilibrium was off

I was a teen when this gem hit the market. Now, 33 years later, my son is listening to this album like I did at his age. Just proves Cinderella is timeless
