Sognu
Amaury Vassili Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

sognu, di sta labre
di sta voce chjara e pura
mai spentu ricordu di te
quella notte cui con tè
sognu, mi lamentu
U moi core, n'ha primura
di a vita, aspettu dumane
invinuchjatu, vediu u mare
spart'u mondu con tè
mai tu, te ne vogli'anda
canteraghju vittoria
luntanu de tè, pensu sempre que
sei vicino a mè, sognu di te
canteraghju, canteraghju a tè
a canzona l'o i me
piengu è so male
pregu u celu fin'a more
cui dai monti, guidi front'a tè
per svegliammi da stu sognu
sè tu mori, eu dimè

Overall Meaning

In Amaury Vassili's song Sognu, the singer expresses the power and presence of his dreams. He starts by describing his dream as a pure and clear voice and reminisces on a certain night where he dreamt of his loved one. He then expresses his longing for her and says that his heart is eager for the future, while he is lost and looking at the sea. The singer says that he wants to share his dream with his loved one, singing that he will sing his victory far away from her, but always thinking of her. He talks about the pain he feels and asks the sky to come to him and wake him up from this dream, promising that he will follow his loved one even after death.

The lyrics of Sognu can have multiple interpretations. One interpretation could be that the singer is expressing his desire to be reunited with his loved one, even if it's just in dreams. He wants to share his dreams with her and never forget her. Another interpretation could be that the singer is using his dreams as a way to find hope and happiness in his difficult circumstances. He is longing for something that seems far away, but in his dreams, he can be with the person he loves.

Peter Johnson

If I remember rightly Cyprus were not in the final that year? Must have just picked a name out of a hat for the twelve points

it was clear that he was having unexpected trouble initially with the tone and pitch, but he over came it to demonstrate he has one incredible voice...(check out the other versions of this song as well)...

Massively underrated in the final. This should've been top 5 at least. Yes it's pitchy and he was better in pre Eurovision performances, but he's still amazing and it's a powerful commanding solo.

I'm so glad others have performed Opera at ESC. This remains my favourite French entry of that decade and one of my favourite entries of all time.

Non una voce francese. È in corso cioè quasi italiano
