Rainflower
Airiel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
all around are whispers
it's damp outside, a chill tonight
my fingers all are blisters
what you see, I can't explain
my reason is to glisten
all I see, I can't contain
if you forget to listen
can't you listen
just be still
it's almost over
a thousand blisters
on my tongue
it's already over
it's clear outside, the stars are bright
all the while we listen
I've split into my thoughts of you
sugar coats, it glistens
all I need is what you have
as it drips on down your fingers
coats your lips in its sweet taste
of lemon flavored kisses
The lyrics of Airiel's song Rainflower convey a sense of melancholy and longing. The opening line, "all I see is fading light," immediately sets the mood, with the singer seeming to feel overwhelmed by the fading of life around them. The use of the phrase "whispers" evokes a sense of secrets, as if the singer is privy to something others are not. The physical discomfort of the damp and chill outside is juxtaposed with the warmth of the sugar coats and lemon-flavored kisses that the singer is seeking.
The lines "my reason is to glisten/all I see, I can't contain" suggest a desire to shine and be noticed, but a frustration at feeling unseen. The mention of blisters on the fingers and tongue could represent the hard work and effort that the singer feels they have put in without reward. However, the tagline "it's almost over/it's already over" seems to suggest a resignation and acceptance of things as they are. The line "what you see, I can't explain" could imply that the singer is aware of something beyond the physical, the whispers and glistening that others cannot comprehend.
Overall, the lyrics of Rainflower seem to convey a bittersweet sense of yearning for something more, while also acknowledging the transience of life and the inevitability of endings.

As I said earlier, this album and this song are Moroccan. If you want to enjoy this album, you must be in south of Morocco under its bright sun, because the way he play the guitar is like the sun's rays.
