Classical music… Read Full Bio ↴Classical & Neoclassical music with Dark overtones.
Classical music is a broad term that usually refers to music produced in, or rooted in the traditions of Western liturgical and secular music, encompassing a broad period from roughly the 9th century to present times. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period.
European classical music is largely distinguished from many other non-European and popular musical forms by its system of staff notation, in use since about the 16th century. Western staff notation is used by composers to prescribe to the performer the pitch, speed, meter, individual rhythms and exact execution of a piece of music. This leaves less room for practices, such as improvisation and ad libitum ornamentation, that are frequently heard in non-European art music (compare Indian classical music and Japanese traditional music), and popular music.
The period after WWII saw classical music falling behind the commercial success* of corporate-driven popular music which subsumed an image of youthful (US) rebellion against โoldโ (European) formalisms.
The term โclassical musicโ did not appear until the early 19th century, in an attempt to โcanonizeโ the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. The earliest reference to โclassical musicโ recorded by the Oxford English Dictionary is from about 1836.

Once Upon a Dream
Lana Del Rey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
The way you did once upon a dream
I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream
Lana Del Rey's "Once Upon a Dream" is a haunting and romantic song that speaks to the timeless nature of love. The lyrics of the song describe a feeling of familiarity between two people who have met before, as well as a sense of destiny or predestination. The singer claims to "know" the person she is addressing because she has walked with him "once upon a dream." This suggests that the two individuals may have encountered each other in a dream, or perhaps in some other realm of the imagination where they have formed a deep spiritual connection.
The singer describes the "gleam" in the other person's eye as being "so familiar," which implies that she may have seen that same look before. The idea of a "familiar" connection between two people is one that is often explored in literature and romance, and it suggests a shared history or a deep-seated bond that transcends time and space. The singer also acknowledges that "visions are seldom all they seem," which suggests that she may be questioning the accuracy of her memories or her intuitions about this other person. However, despite this uncertainty, she is convinced that the other person will love her again, just as they did in their shared dream.
Overall, Lana Del Rey's "Once Upon a Dream" is a song that captures the complexities of human emotion and the mysterious nature of the connections between people. It suggests that love is a force that can transcend reality and connect us to others, even across time and space.

briar rose Actually, I think that Maleficent is singing about Stefan because Iโve read that this version of the song is about how love was found, felt deeply and lost somehow, but not forgotten.

They couldn't have found a better person with the right voice for the movie. Lana's voice is intoxicatingly gothic. She sounds like she is right from the 60s. Cinematic and a very rich voice.
