Concrete Walls
Fever Ray Lyrics

I live between concrete walls
When I took her up she was so warm
I live between concrete walls
In my arms she was so warm

Eyes are open the mouth cries
Haven't slept since summer
Eyes are open the mouth cries
Haven't slept since summer

I live between concrete walls
When I took her up she was so warm
I live between concrete walls
In my arms she was so warm

Oh, how I try
I leave the TV on and the radio
Oh, how I try
I leave the TV on and the radio

I live between concrete walls
When I took her up she was so warm
I live between concrete walls
In my arms she was so warm

When I took her up she was so warm
I live between concrete walls
In my arms she was so warm

[Verse 1]
Eyes are open and mouth cries
Haven't slept since summer
Eyes are open and mouth cries
Haven't slept since summer

[Chorus]
I live between concrete walls
When I took her up she was so warm
I live between concrete walls
In my arms she was so warm

Oh how I try
I leave the TV on
And the radio
Oh how I try
I leave the TV on
And the radio

In my arms she was so warm

Fever Ray and the Knife songs still remain as some of the most sophisticated yet incredibly strange and passionate songs that I have ever heard

I've been listening to and playing music for 60 years. There is genius here.

I love how Dreijer paints her face with creepy black lines. I've just read a description in a Swedish novel of priestesses with black "grief lines" painted starkly on their faces that make them look like deathly disir and all I could think of was Fever Ray, high priestess of them all.

What would the novel be?

This reminds me of how I felt postpartum... alone behind the concrete walls of my home as one child crys for food and the other had colic, I tried to turn up the radio to drown his cries feeling defeated I couldn't comfort him.
