Romeo's Distress
Christian Death Lyrics

Burning crosses on a nigger's lawn
Burning dollars
What's a house without a home?
Dance in your white sheet glory
Dance in your passion
Talk about sugar on the six fingered beast
Conversation about the holes in your hands
Walking the garden of men's desires
Conversation about the kingdom of fire
Conversation about the kingdom of fire

What's that moving in the basement?
What's that moving in the attic?
Who's that walking in the shadows?
Who's that walking in the streets?

Kiss on my hand
After dark
Hand for a kiss
After dark
Kiss on my hand
Kiss on my hand
Kiss on my hand

Romance in sequence
Harmful to the blind
Burning hearts
Through the top of your skull
Dance in your white sheet glory
Dance in your passion
Your days are numbered
With pretense in your pocket
Your days are numbered
With the love in your eyes
Love in your eyes

Love?

What's that moving in the basement?
What's that moving in the attic?
Who's that lying on the altar?
Who's that lying in the streets?

Kiss on my hand
After dark
Hand for a kiss
After dark
Kiss on my hand
Kiss on my hand
Kiss on my hand
Kiss on my hand

Pull down the sheets
Take off your clothes
Get out of bed
I'm so tired
I'm so tired

Pull down the sheets
And take off your clothes
Get out of bed
I'm so tired
I'm so tired

I'm so tired

No Body

SOOO glad I got to be a teen goth in the 90's. Being introduced to all the music, the scene and the clubs was like living in a separate underground world. A world that the normies could never invade and appropriate for themselves.

If you found a random gem of an album, you made copies for all your closest friends. If you didn't know someone who was associated, you never heard the music unless you trolled Hollywood stores like Retail Slut, Bleaker Bob's or Riverside's Electric Chair and Mad Platter.

We had our own little corner of the world that was both shiny, dark and full of mystery. Memories that most would kill to have experienced or just be able to see.

Hedonist? Maybe. But it was mostly for individualists who wanted refuge and got to flourish amongst their own misift kin.

Which is why it's so hard to explain the subculture to the young ones of today. I wish I could give them the same special experience but today's digital world has destroyed most of it.

But, we're always in the hearts of people and will continue (hopefully) the line through the generations. It's survived 40 years so far! Can you say the same about any other? Punk, grunge, alternative, metal (it's a joke nowadays)...

The list goes on. All I can say to the baby bats out there is don't fear the stoic individualistic elders. They persevered in a world that was largely unaccepting and are slow to trust. But believe me, they have beautiful stories to share that can leave one quite starry eyed!

When I was a teenager I dated a dude who was fiends with Rikk Agnew. My parents went out of town and my boyfriend? Invited Rikk and Christian Death to my house for a party. They ended up playing in my backyard on my huge covered porch. Word got around and my house was packed! It got hella trashed but it was so worth it. Such fun. ❤️

@Enoch Dark - exactly. I loved his voice the first time I heard it. It sounded like he'd been eating glass and used battery acid to wash it down. Very unique.

@Brewzerr - exactly right. I recently looked at my old photos and found a lot of people who went on to become famous. They were just people and they played at house parties. I remember I went to one where Nirvana played in Olympia and the floor caved in. 🤣

@Sapphire Sky back in the 80's this was considered Christian Death was considered punk. Rozz was into the punk scene before he got into the gothic makeup and theatrics on stage. It wasn't labeled as deathrock until later. Back then no one gave a shit, it was just considered punk music with dark themes.

@Gerald Moton also, read above to my previous comment... because for some reason you people think a) Christian Death is punk lol and b) saying the n word is punk

Sapphire Sky

@DOUGLAS ARUNDALE uh? No this isn't punk? And since when is saying the n word punk? Unless you like skrewdriver lmao. I can only think of * one * actual punk song that uses the slur, and they had a black person in the band.
