I Was Here
Beyoncé Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wanna leave my footprints on the sand of time
Know there was something that, and something that I left behind
When I leave this world, I'll leave no regrets
Leave something to remember, so they won't forget

I was here, I lived, I loved, I was here
I did, I've done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark, so everyone will know, I was here

I wanna say I lived each day, until I died
You know that I, meant something in, somebody's life
The hearts I have touched
Will be the proof that I leave
That I made a difference
And this world will see

I was here, I lived, I loved, I was here
I did, I've done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know

I was here, I lived, I loved, I was here
I did, I've done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know, I was here

I just want them to know
That I gave my all, did my best
Brought someone some happiness
Left this world a little better just because, I was here

I was here, I lived, I loved, I was here
I did, I've done, everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I wanna leave my mark so everyone will know

I was here, I lived (I lived), I loved, I was here
I did (I did), I've done
I was here, I lived (I lived), I loved (I loved), was here
I did, I've done, I was here

@lennefujimura

Agreed, she's an inspiration. She's the ultimate masterclass version of Gal Gadot's "Imagine".
I love strategically thought-out brutal hypocrisy when I see it. In fact, she was perfect representative for the whole United Nations organisation's "Humans matter day, (ROFL)". They don't give a crap about humanity, but can't sell the lie seamlessly - that's where BeyoncĂ© came in. And did she deliver🎉!

It's always certain selfless individuals who make difference. And often are not just unrecognised, but absolutely invisible to the rest of the world.

Case in point - this video. 99% of people watching it proceed to praise Beyoncé as if she'd been personally there during every catastrophic instance, the main heroic person saving others in every video shown behind her.

LOL, no. She wasn't there. She was present for a video that cost millions of dollars to make.
Her Marc Bouwer gown alone is worth more than first responder's paychecks of six months combined.
