Guitars Cadillacs
Dwight Yoakam Lyrics

Girl you taught me how to hurt real bad and cry myself to sleep
You showed me how this town can shatter dreams
Another lesson about a naive fool that came to Babylon
And found out that the pie don't taste so sweet

Now it's guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Lonely, lonely streets that I call home
Yeah my guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Is the only thing that keeps me hanging on

There ain't no glamour in this tinseled land of lost and wasted lives
And painful scars are all that's left of me
Oh but thank you girl for teaching me brand new ways to be cruel
If I can find my mind now, I guess I'll just leave

And it's guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Lonely, lonely streets that I call home
Yeah my guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Is the only thing that keeps me hanging on

Oh it's guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Lonely, lonely streets that I call home
Yeah my guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
Is the only thing that keeps me hanging on

It's the only thing that keeps me hanging on
It's the only thing that keeps me hanging on

First time I heard it was that little snippet from the movie. I was like six when I first saw it on VHS, but the distortion when the line "....hillbilly music." comes in as the view switches to the t800 pov created such an earworm that could never get it out of my head lol. I'm 32 now and still hear it as fresh as the day I saw it every time I listen to this song.

Good luck doing that.

I had heard a swedish version of this song before I heard it in Terminator 2. I didn't know it was an american song before that and I didn't know the title until I made a search for the swedish song today and got a result which gave away the english title too.
