But yea if your looking to build you upper back strength and size farmer walks and other carries are the way to go.

To add to that: overhead press can be a great additional trap builder, if people actually did it right. I haven't done a single shrug in years and my traps are bigger than they've ever been, thanks to deadlifts, lots of back work in general and OHP.

If you want to build bigger traps do heavy shrugs and progressively overload them. Doing 3 seperate exercises for 1 muscle group is more often than not a a huge waste of time.

@@suzys8558 Bend over a bit when doing shrugs, or do close grip row variations. Make sure you keep your lower back engaged and use your hips as a hinge when bending over.

But if you're new to the gym isolating the traps might be a little excessive. Focus on big compound lifts like rows, pullups and/or pulldowns to build your back, you'll see plenty of growth in all parts of the traps (and your entire back in general) doing just those, and you'll save a lot of time and hassle.

Rhomboids are different muscles altogether. There are 4 of them in total, Rhomboids major and minor on either side that perform scapula retraction for you and control the scapula.

Trapezius is a different muscle more superficial or outer to both the rhomboids.

Number one

Dumbbell shrugs are done with the weights angle slightly in front of the body and outer leg (you video they are not)

Number two: do not roll your shoulders at all when doing the dumbbell front shrugs (you are rolling your shoulders a bit).

Incline bench flys an incorrect name ( those are called rear deltoid flys on an incline bench and this prioritize the rear deltoid)

Shrugs are stupid, do chest supported rows or t-bar rows for upper back, bent over rows are for lats mostly(which you still should ve hitting just as much of course), and those reverse flys are mostly rear delt movements, which is better to do with cables or pec dec machine

No don't do regular shrugs for upper traps. You end up tightening the levator scapulae. That's bad for shoulder health. Do over head shrugs as this works the upper traps but not the levator scapulae.

You Incline bench reverse flyes... The way your doing the exercise with protracted scapula makes the rear deltoid the primary muscle group. You must retract the scapula on the contraction portion of the movement to really engage the traps... Also single arm dumbbell rows is very similar to a T bar row which dependent on your body position (like the way you're doing the excercise) primarily engages the rhomboids.. your built well but this vid is not 100% right
