Alex Mercer It is the same thing, though Synthwave is the real name for the genre. New Retro Wave is just a group of people/website and youtube channel promoting synthwave music, art, artists, gaming etc. So a lot of people new to the genre will often call it New Retro Wave.

Weird how Kavinsky drives a Testarossa in real life but didn't correct the gearbox error near the end. He was slamming it into reverse. I drove one once and made that mistake pulling away.
