Fine Friend
Pale Saints Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And this is wearing me thin
There are too many hours
And too many ways to fill them in
Fine friend you're a fine friend
When will I see
Fine friend you're a fine friend
You've been an anchor for me?
I'm tired of holding my breath
There's too much that's been left to say
But I know tomorrow the smile on your face
Will smooth these thoughts away
Fine friend you're a fine friend
When will I see
Fine friend you're a fine friend
You've been an anchor for me?
I'll never walk into your arms
without a trace of doubt
Cause I've been tossed around
This world I'm in is upside down
Fine friend you're a fine friend
When will I see
Fine friend you're a fine friend
You've been an anchor for me?
The lyrics of Pale Saints's song Fine Friend speak to the difficulties of making and maintaining friendships. The verse "I'm tired of too much of this and this is wearing me thin, there are too many hours and too many ways to fill them in" captures the exhaustion felt from trying to keep up with social obligations while also feeling unfulfilled. The songwriter wants to express themselves more fully to their friend, but "there's too much that's been left to say." The chorus acknowledges the value of having a friend who has been "an anchor" during difficult times. However, the bridge reveals the singer's hesitancy to fully trust their friend or anyone else: "I'll never walk into your arms without a trace of doubt, cause I've been tossed around."

Estoy cansado de demasiado de esto
I'm tired of too much of this

And this is wearing me thin

Y demasiadas maneras de llenarlos
And too many ways to fill them in
Buen amigo eres un buen amigo
Fine friend you're a fine friend
cuando Vere
When will I see
Buen amigo eres un buen amigo

Estoy cansado de contener la respiración
I'm tired of holding my breath
Hay demasiado que ha quedado por decir
There's too much that's been left to say
Pero sé mañana la sonrisa en tu cara
But I know tomorrow the smile on your face
Suavizará estos pensamientos
Will smooth these thoughts away
Buen amigo eres un buen amigo

I learned about this band when I was homeless. Pale Saints are giants in my life. It's been 30 years, and I still love them.

One of the best outros in pop history !! This masterpiece needs a HQ remastering treatment .. The long version at 5'40"' is even better !! It moves me everytime I listen to it , although it s been mocked as the ultimate frienszone song .. RIP Gr.Naysmith ..
