Flood Of '72
Title Fight Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So far removed from the life you're used to
Flood of '72 casting shadows over you
A giant's despair
I see the valley beneath me
Revealing what you still can't remember
Your best clothes hanging in the closet
A constant reminder
A town that's underwater
A giant's despair
Time and distance return to the surface
Resurface
The song "Flood of '72" by Title Fight tells the story of a community that was hit by a devastating flood in 1972. It talks about how time and distance have made it hard for people to remember the details, but the shadow of the flood still looms over them. The lyrics use imagery to convey the overwhelming sense of loss and despair that the flood caused, with lines like "A giant's despair" and "A town that's underwater."
The lyrics also touch on the idea of memory and how it can be distorted over time. While some people may have moved on from the flood or forgotten about it entirely, others are still haunted by its impact. The reference to "your best clothes hanging in the closet" is a powerful symbol of this, as it suggests that some people may have lost everything and are unable to move on from the tragedy.
Overall, "Flood of '72" is a haunting and emotional song that reflects on a devastating event that impacted a whole community. It is a reminder of the power of nature and of the long-lasting effects that disasters can have on people's lives.

I'm like... legit sad I missed this band back in their day...
@RyanKaufman
Think of it this way, you wouldn't have grown up the same if you were old enough to see these guys in their hayday. And if you were into this type of music, odds are high you miss it anyway because back when this album came out, finding music was a shot in the dark. You had better luck going on Myspace to find new music.
