The Islander
Nightwish Lyrics

An old man by a seashore
At the end of day
Gazes the horizon
With seawinds in his face
Tempest-tossed island
Seasons all the same
Anchorage unpainted
And a ship without a name

Sea without a shore for the banished one unheard
He lightens the beacon, light at the end of world
Showing the way lighting hope in their hearts
The ones on their travels homeward from afar

This is for long-forgotten
Light at the end of the world
Horizon crying
The tears he left behind long ago

The albatross is flying
Making him daydream
The time before he became
One of the world`s unseen
Princess in the tower
Children in the fields
Life gave him it all:
An island of the universe

Now his love`s a memory
A ghost in the fog
He sets the sails one last time
Saying farewell to the world
Anchor to the water
Seabed far below
Grass still in his feet
And a smile beneath his brow

This is for long-forgotten
Light at the end of the world
Horizon crying
The tears he left behind long ago

So long ago
So long ago

This is for long-forgotten
Light at the end of the world
Horizon crying
The tears he left behind so long ago

So long ago

Yes simpy there are different eras as you said. And I always said: "Problem with Anette was because she inherit a lot of songs which simply were not made for her voice".
It was creating a lot of problems like people on live shows expects to hear example ghost love score.. But Anette was not able to deliver it same or even kindish same as Tarja. For songs made for her she was very good as she is really rockstar level of pro singer.. And to be honest I don't believe that Tarja will deliver some songs of Annette. Simply not this dynamic not this voice.

Floor at the other hand is what old fans of NW was waiting for.. She can deliver some old songs in kindish Tarja style (but which own vibes). She can deliver some Anette era's song as well and they are sounds different but not bad. She is simply versatile pro singer. I think that people simply give her love because she went into to band in hard time... People not expects a lot but get something which exceded their expectations.

To conclude Floor is currently one of the best trained vocals she have good control of voice she can mix a lot of styles.. And this makes here brilliant 3rd Era singer for NW and she is what this band need to be able to create new and to deliver old songs.. But we need to remember that each era had own heroes so:
Tarja was wonderfull and still is in her solo career.
Anette was wonderfull and still is in her solo career .
Floor is wonderfull and hope she will be for long time.

Willame Alves

Luz no fim do mundo
Horizonte chorando

Luz no fim do mundo
Horizonte chorando
As lágrimas que ele deixou pra trás há muito tempo

Há muito tempo
Há muito tempo

Isso está há muito tempo esquecido
Luz no fim do mundo
Horizonte chorando
As lágrimas que ele deixou pra trás há muito tempo

Há muito tempo

My grandfather passed away a month ago. He was a long-term captain and till his last day he continues to tell the stories of his adventures, his beloved sea and marine animals. He did not know what metal is, but he visit Finland in his 40s and he often answered me:"do you continue to lister to that band, the one with also a passion for sea in their lyrics."
Any time I listen to this song I enjoy the memory of my beloved grandfather. I'm an atheist, but I hope he is still sailing among the waves, somewhere.

Your comment made me drop a tear, cause his question was so grandpa-like, you said he didn’t know metal, but he still wanted to know something about a band that you like, cause of his passion for the sea.. when you have a passion, you wanna share it, so that’s why he asked you that I think..

Oi,, I m, from Finlad,, tell me,,

Kaje Ralocse

May he rest in piece. He is sailing somewhere. Our consciousness does not die even after our bodily death. People call it soul but it's more complicated than that actually.

@ShadowHunta How sensitive you are! Thank you so much! 2 years have passed since my grandfather's funeral, but the memory is still real.

ShadowHunta

Word. That is beautiful story, my man. Im agnostic myself, but I agree, I'd like to think he's still sailing out there in the great beyond. And decades from now have the chance for you two to reunite.
