Exposure

Total Exposure
How dare you say
"You have a good one"
When it′s obvious
I don't
As plain as the nose on my face
Examine small holes with search lights
Ad open up the night
To the light
Listen to the way the children play
As the day slips away
And the light comes on
Total Exposure
Drums can′t wait for tomorrow
They want the plastic everlasting
Now or never
But listen to the way the children play
As the day slips away
And the light comes on
Total Exposure
And the tide connects
Where surfers ride
And the power plants the doomsday crop
But listen to the way the children play
As the day slips away
And the light comes on

In Gareth Emery's song "Exposure," the lyrics paint a picture of someone feeling exposed and vulnerable, questioning the sincerity of others' compliments. The opening lines convey a sense of disbelief and frustration, as the singer is told they have a good life when it is evident to them that they do not. The line "As plain as the nose on my face" emphasizes the obviousness of their situation.
The next lines introduce the image of examining small holes with searchlights and opening up the night to the light. This imagery suggests a desire for clarity and understanding, as if the singer is searching for answers or a way to reveal their true feelings.
The chorus brings in the element of children playing, symbolizing innocence and freedom. It highlights the contrast between the carefree nature of children and the complexities of adult life. The repetition of "total exposure" emphasizes the theme of vulnerability and being fully seen.
The following lines introduce the idea that drums (symbolizing urgency or desire) cannot wait for tomorrow; they want instant gratification and lasting fulfillment. This adds another layer to the song, possibly hinting at the singer's longing for something more meaningful or genuine in their life.
The lyrics conclude with references to the tide, surfers, and power plants. These lines create a sense of the world's potential dangers and uncertainties, further emphasizing the heightened vulnerability of the singer.
Overall, "Exposure" explores themes of vulnerability, authenticity, and the contrasting simplicity of childhood against the complexities of adult life. It touches on the dissonance between surface-level perceptions and true personal experiences.

Not only does he produce slammers like this, he is an amazing guy in person, I met him last night in sankeys for garuda, he doesn't mind talking to his supporters, he even let me come in the VIP area for 5 minutes and I sat down next to him and was talking general stuff. You can see that he loves his job through his performances. Not trying to brag or boast about it, I'm just saying he is an absolute hero, thats why he will go far. He says he flies out to Russia at 9 to do global gathering.

His set at UMF 2010 was insane! The whole hour he was on was non-stop and in your face. Loved every minute of it!
