After The Storm
Kali Uchis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ah
Whatever goes around eventually comes back to you
So you better be careful, baby
And look both ways before you cross my mind

Did you ever wonder?
Yeah, do you ever wonder
What he might be going through on his own?
And the demons that he's facing alone
I hate that sometimes I can't go home
And it just ain't the same on the phone, no
But everybody's gotta go on, don't they?
(Yes, we do, baby)

So if you need a hero (if you need a hero)
Just look in the mirror (just look in the mirror)
No one's gonna save you now
So you better save yourself
And everybody's hurting
Everybody's going through it
But you just can't give up now
'Cause you gotta save yourself
(Yeah, I gotta hang on, baby)

The sun'll come out
Nothing good ever comes easy
I know times are rough
But winners don't quit
So don't you give up
The sun'll come out
But we've been struggling endlessly
Someday we'll find the love
'Cause after the storm's
When the flowers bloom

Kali, what you mean?
I take it offensive
'Cause I'm the hottest flower boy
That popped up on the scene
Feeling better, better than ever
'Cause your umbrella, 'brella ('brel-la)
Sun is beaming on me like headlights beaming on Bambi
Now let's pretend the street is the room
And you are a Camry
'Cause you drive me candy
The Tito to my Randy
Now let's produce some thrillers
My chocolate wit' yo' vanilla, uh

The sun'll come out
Nothing good ever comes easy
I know times are rough
But winners don't quit
So don't you give up
The sun'll come out
But we've been struggling endlessly
Someday we'll find the love
'Cause after the storm

I know it's hard
But do you even really try?
Maybe you could understand
When all you had to do was ask
And just open your mind
When everything is passing by
And all you had to do was try
Yeah, all you had to do was try

Try, try, try, try
All you had to do was try
Try, try, try, try

I just noticed that Tyler was embodying the metaphor that the grass is always greener on the other side, hence why he was in the grass and how even though it rained on him, snowed on him, etc. He still stayed green till the end. Kali in this video realizes that after the storm is where you see the beauty that comes after, hence why in the end she starts a family with Tyler and has two kids. Something beautiful for both of them after they weathered the storm and refused to give up

@livlight9762

Does anyone understand that she is talking about spirituality here? She is literally showing that everything is under permanent change and nothings lasts, we can't take family, friends or any kind of things with us to the grave...like humans age and are destined to die...she is telling you that you should save your soul and recognize the reason of this incarnation...we are here to purify our hearts and souls and don't get trapped by attachment to outer world...but also let go of all sins...it's the path to detachment and holiness...that's the reason we are alive as humans...so stop the circle of rebirth...

Do you know mata kali from indian mythology?
OM SHRI MATA KALIYAI NAMAHA

Kali slices the demons of the mind and body...any addictions & attachments...

Do no harm others but also don't attach emotional. Stay attached to mantra (god inside you)
