I bought, with my pocket money, aged 14, the piano duet arrangement of this piece, and begged my piano teacher to play it with me. I practiced for hours, and we ended each lesson with the duet. We once even played it in public! 50 years later, a bit more arthritic, i can still play both parts. Thank you GFH for one of the most stunning pieces of music this child ever heard!

While I live in Great Britten, I Ravel in all these these puns with open br(arms), I'm very Straussed out and far too Bizet to think of any more daft ones, sorry. I have to go out and get the weekly groceries with my Chopin Liszt. On the way Bach, I stopped off at the BARBER, whose name was Samuel. tigerwa I hope Ellen Johnston will play this on the organ as the confirmation candidates process to the chancel. (I am going to be confirmed at the Easter Vigil). I am going to become Episcopalian. I like it so much better than when I was Catholic (all my life until 2012. That was when I started the process of converting, in 2012.) To make a long story short, I hope Ellen will play this on the organ for the confirmation candidates' processional. She is my favorite organist, by the way. Kathleen Gillis It is in my Top Twenty. Handel and Vaughan Williams are my favorite composers. My most favorite composition of all is the hymn tune "Forest Green" by Rafe Vaughan Williams. I listen to it on YouTube several times a day on my PC. And my favorite arranger is the late Sir David Willcocks. I hope Vaughan Williams, Handel, and Sir David will be watching over me during Confirmation as well as my deceased friends and relatives. I think of those three as my friends even though two of them lived long before my time and I never met Sir David. They're my friends anyway.

Now hundreds of years later it is still an awesome piece of music, it is old but modern and hip and fast at the same time, has a good beat to it. I just watched the last episode (6) of "Last Tango in Halifax" -- a BBC series set in the Halifax in Yorkshire, England (the original one). When I was at school early 70s our headmaster would play too morning assembly a classic piece of music on record player and talk about the piece and the composer!! Handel is simply mystical, transcending limits of the 'common' music.

The fact is, that Handel was the favourite composer of the great majority of baroque/classical/romantic composers. It seems that only people who do not compose (regular modern people) prefer Bach, which does not surprise me considering how there are very few good modern composers, even when they study music. Handel will forever be the greatest composer unless someone surpasses him, because no one has achieved that yet and it is very unlikely to ever happen. Bach said that he wanted to be Handel.
