Hands
Jewel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It would be that we're all ok
And not to worry because worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these
I will not be made useless
I won't be idled with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear
My hands are small, I know,
But they're not yours they are my own
But they're not yours they are my own
And I am never broken
Poverty stole your golden shoes
But it didn't steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me
But i knew it wasn't ever after
We will fight, not out of spite
For someone must stand up for what's right
Cause where there's a man who has no voice
There ours shall go singing
My hands are small, I know,
But they're not yours they are my own
But they're not yours they are my own
And I am never broken
In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
My hands are small, I know,
But they're not yours they are my own
But they're not yours they are my own
And I am never broken
My hands are small, i know,
But they're not yours they are my own
But they're not yours they are my own
And I am never broken
We are never broken
We are God's eyes God's hands God's mind
We are God's eyes God's hands God's heart
We are God's eyes God's hands God's eyes God's hands
We are God's hands God's hands We are God's hands
The song "Hands" by Jewel is a powerful message of hope and encouragement. The song's lyrics encourage us to believe in ourselves and others, to have faith in the goodness of people, and to act with kindness and compassion towards one another. The lyrics suggest that we are all connected and that we can make a difference in the world by reaching out to others and making a positive impact.
Jewel starts the song with a powerful statement that if she could tell the world just one thing, it would be that we're all okay and not to worry because worry is wasteful and useless in times of trouble. She goes on to say that she will not be made useless or idled with despair, but will gather herself around her faith because light does the darkness most fear. These lines suggest that faith and hope are essential in difficult situations.
The chorus of the song speaks of the power of one's own hands. Jewel says that her hands may be small, but they are not someone else's; they are her own. She declares that she is never broken, suggesting that we should all believe in ourselves and our strength. The song encourages us to recognize the power of our own hands and how they can be used to make a difference in the world, no matter how small they may seem.
In the end, the song concludes that only kindness matters, and the lyrics suggest that we should get down on our knees and pray for the strength to be kind and compassionate towards one another. The song's powerful message reminds us that we are all connected, and we can make a difference in the world if we reach out with love and understanding.

A Cry! For Meaning.
Valid Truths - in the face of ignorance.
But The Cry! For Meaning still persists.
"Make Sense of all this! Though I curse it."
"Reveal YOURSELF! Though I deny your Worth."
"Comfort me! Though I refuse you yours."
"Though you have never been Real to me, 'LORD'....
Please, HEAL my soul."
This is pain.
This is emotion deadbolted and forgotten.
This is a Cry Out! For Meaning.
Whilst denying the Possibility of Meaning.
Wishing still, there was Meaning...
Where no Possibility exists.
But, of course, these thoughts could be misplaced.
We're stumbling through the darkness....
Looking for A ROCK -- to call -- HOME BASE.

Heard this in the airport returning back from war. Tired, hungry, beaten, lost, just discharged from the Marines. I heard the lyrics and it saved my life. I was close to not being alive had I not heard the voice of an angel. Praise God.🙏🏼🇺🇸
