Satan Is My Motor
Cake Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've got wheels of polished steel
I've got tires that grab the road
I've got seats that selflessly hold my friends
And a trunk that can carry the heaviest of loads

I've got a mind that can steer me to your house
And a heart that can bring you red flowers
My intentions are good and earnest and true
But under my hood is internal combustion power

And Satan is my motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr
Satan is my motor, motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr
Satan is the only one who seems to understand

I've got brakes, I'm wide awake
I can stop this car at any time
At the very last second I can change direction
Turn completely around if I feel so inclined

I've got a mind that can steer me to your house
And a heart that can bring you red flowers
My intentions are good and earnest and true
But under my hood is internal combustion power

And Satan is my motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr
And Satan is my motor, motor (Satan is my motor)
Hear my motor purr

And Satan is the only one who seems to understand
And Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor
Satan is my motor (hear my motor)
Satan is my motor
Satan is the only one who seems to understand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Cake's song "Satan Is My Motor" describe the singer's car as a powerful and seductive force that he tries to resist but ultimately succumbs to. The car is personified as having "wheels of polished steel," "tires that grab the road," and a "mind that can steer me to your house." The singer acknowledges that he has control over the car, as he has "brakes" and can "stop this car at any time." However, the singer is also aware of the car's destructive potential, as he compares it to "internal combustion power" and refers to it as "Satan" multiple times throughout the song.

Despite the singer attempting to distance himself from the car's darker side, he also embraces it, claiming that "Satan is the only one who seems to understand" him. This creates a complicated relationship between the singer and the car, as he both fears and desires its power.

Overall, the song's lyrics are a commentary on the allure of danger and the struggle to resist it, even when it may lead to destruction.

Just think about the Lyrics. It is disgusting to hype such messages. Don't misunderstand me. If you only look at the song in a musical, technical way then you can't say something against it, but if you understand what the Lyrics are saying then its just terrifying. Think about on wich side youre standing. Think about who is really the one who understands you and loves you. I konw its easier not to belive. Its easier to say that it dosen't matter because this is all fictional. But it isen't.

Jesus is the only way. He says: Im the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father than through me.
Think about it. If youre not sure what im trying you to say, read in the Bible, you will find the answer in the new testament. for example in the chapter of John.

I won't forbid anyone to make music and to love it. But use the music for good news and not for thoughlessly worship of the bad.

Thanks for reading.
If there's some grammar mistaces, please forgive me. I ain't no native english speaker. :)

I think we can all agree that the real meaning of Christmas is recognizing that Satan is the only one who seems to understand.
