In recent years, Iceland has seen a development and change in both the commercial and underground music scene. Prominent experimental indie bands, such as the high school originated Hjaltalín and Benny Crespo's Gang are enjoying a wider audience. Notable music veterans are expanding into sub genres; for example, GusGus frontman Daníel Ágúst is currently collaborating with punk rock star Krummi from Mínus, forming the raw duo Esja. The electronic scene in Icelandic music has also picked up a wider audience. Grittier electronic bands are redefining old styles with dynamic music such as the widely acclaimed band Steed Lord, who proclaim themselves as producers of "Gangsta electronic music".[citation needed]
The Icelandic metal scene is a mix of metal and hardcore acts. Some notable Icelandic metal/hardcore bands include Wormlust, Sólstafir, Gone Postal, Changer and Severed Crotch.
Little Talks
Of Monsters and Men Lyrics

I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as you sleep
It's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes
And some days I can't even dress myself
It's killing me to see you this way
'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
(Hey, hey, hey)
There's an old voice in my head
That's holding me back
Well, tell her that I miss our little talks
Soon it will be over and buried with our past
We used to play outside when we were young
And full of life and full of love
Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right
Your mind is playing tricks on you, my dear
'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
(Hey)
Don't listen to a word I say
(Hey)
The screams all sound the same
(Hey)
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore (hey, hey)
You're gone, gone, gone away
I watched you disappear
All that's left is a ghost of you
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart
There's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me, please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep
(Hey)
Don't listen to a word I say
(Hey)
The screams all sound the same
(Hey)
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Don't listen to a word I say
(Hey)
The screams all sound the same
(Hey)
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Of Monsters and Men's "Little Talks" is a song that can be interpreted in multiple ways. Beginning with the opening lines, the song describes an old, empty house with the familiar creakiness of its stairs, hinting at the ghosts from the past that linger in the background. The song speaks of a couple, walking hand in hand, with one partner unable to dress and function properly. It shows the concern of one partner for the other, trying to comfort them in their time of pain. The ghosts from their past and the old voice inside their head represent memories and thoughts that are holding them down.
The lyrics of the song shift to a more hopeful and positive message in the chorus - "Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore." This line symbolizes that they can overcome the ghosts of the past and move forward with each other's support. The latter part of the song speaks of the physical absence of one partner, and the pain of being torn apart. The lyrics contain a plea to hang around, to meet again soon, and to find safety on this ship.
The repetitive "Hey, hey, hey" in the chorus and the bridge ties the song together, and the contrast between the upbeat melody and the haunting lyrics makes "Little Talks" a unique and unforgettable song.

True story. First time I heard this song I was working at a goodwill store. I wrote down "we're torn torn torn apart" quickly so I could look up this song after work. I got the meaning the first time I heard it (my moms a widow, the vibes are obvious and sad) and had to hear it again. Here I am several years later still loving this song.
