Everything I Own
Ken Boothe Lyrics
You sheltered me from harm
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, set me free
The finest years I ever knew
Is all the years I had with you
And I would give anything I own
I'd give up my life, my heart, my own
And I would give anything I own
Just to have you back again
Is there someone you know
That won't let you go
And taking it all for granted?
You may lose them one day
Someone takes them away
And you don't hear the words they say
And I would give anything I own
I'd give up my life, my heart, my own
I would give anything I own
Just to have you back again
Just to talk to you words again
If there's someone you know
That won't let you go
And taking it all for granted?
You may lose them one day
Someone takes them away
And you don't hear the words they say
And I would give anything I own
I'd give up my life, my heart, my own
And I would give anything I own
Just to have you back again
Just to talk to you words again
Just hold you once again

You are the Light that guides me
From midnight to noon
In Love I take refuge
In solitude my company
Bring me peace and joy
The truth and harmony
In acceptance praises me
But without ego in magic
Only in faith can you infect me
Frequently and in tune
Like the sound of my life
The best of melody
The Ego repudiates
Don't criticize or rate me
In perfect sync
At night it takes pain
At dawn brings mastery
És a Luz que me guia
Da meia noite ao meio dia
No Amor me refugia
Na solidão minha companhia
Me traz a paz e a alegria
A verdade e harmonia
Na aceitação me elogia
Mas sem ego na magia
Só na fé me contagia
Com frequência e sintonia
Como o som da minha vida
O melhor da melodia
O Ego repudia
Não me critica ou avalia
Em perfeita sincronia
Na noite leva a dor
No amanhecer traz maestria
Eu te Amo

David Gates of BREAD wrote this about his father in 1972. Many people think it's about a broken relationship, but it's about the loss of his father. This great version by Ken Boothe reached number 1 in 1974, as did Boy George's version in 1987. I lost my father in 2010 and miss him every day.
To everyone who has lost a parent or loved one, this great song is for you.
