The lyrics to Incubus's song "Speak Free" describe the frustration one feels when their right to speak their mind is taken away from them. The singer is addressing someone who has taken control over their lives for the sake of boosting their own self-esteem. The person in power has created an image in the public eye that discredits anyone who goes against their narrative. The repercussion for speaking out against this image is being labeled "insane". The singer urges the person in power to "ignore the past" and let them "Speak free".
In the second verse, the lyrics describe the person in power as having destroyed something, perhaps a physical manifestation of the singer's thoughts or ideas, just to assert their control. They claim that what they see is their own choice and representation, despite the efforts of the person in power to distort it. The singer feels as though they are trapped in a "cell" or limited by the constraints imposed upon them by the person in power. The final line, "just ease my pain", serves as a plea for the person in power to release their grip and let the singer have their freedom of expression back.

On the other hand, Mr. Bungle was influenced by Primus, who came before them, and Faith No More was directly influenced by Mr. Bungle. Also, RHCP admitted that before they became a big name, their label wanted them to sound more like Living Colour. Bands influence each other bro, that's how genres are made.
