Wrapped In Piano Strings
Radical Face Lyrics

I saw your father in the hall
His ghost is living in the walls
I heard him crying while you slept
I heard him breaking things after you left

I watched you crawl into my bed
With curses spilling from your head
You said "We're just the walking dead"
So I pulled the trigger and we floated off

Into the air
Into the air
Into the air
Into the air
Up in the air
We're in the air
Up in the air
Up in the air

I used to worry about the time
But I lost my teeth along the line
So I carved the apple from my eye
And gave it to you before I went away

Blood ran into the kitchen sink
Your hand and lives are running pink
I sat and watched you as your ring
Slipped off and rolled across the kitchen floor

They cut your eyes wide open
And pour into your precious head
My reach don't go that far dear
But please oh please don't let them in

I sank into the sea
Wrapped in piano strings
Few words could open me
But you knew them all

Now I just sleep beneath your floor
My ghost just tries to keep you warm
I've seen the end, I've lost the war
One day you'll join me here just like the rest

I hear the engines
They're roaring in our mouths
The smell of creatures
Are falling tooth and nail to get out

I see the airplanes
They're pouring from the chest
They fill the air
And burn and bury just like the rest

⚠️ long useless opinion ⚠️
Incoming.

Idk man…. Gotta say… I love that its not as polished…. accentuates the rawness.

I gotta respectfully disagree.

Also yeah, I saw someone else mentioned it but, this dude converted a shed in his backyard into a recording studio… which is how he started/recorded the album..I can’t help but love how it contributed to the overall sound. Just adds to the haunting grittiness.

But I totally get different strokes; different folks.

I’ve always been someone who gravitates/prefers the live versions or demos..

Ie. Black beauty Lana del Ray or Trent Reznor NIN…fuck can’t remember the song but “smashed my integrity”… 🎶 (the MV w/him &Manson in the 🏠 before he was even ‘Manson’..)
Also, Florence Welch’s 3rd eye… idk man… something about the rawness of those Demos just makes it fackin hit different for me.

& fuck talk about a throwback… (& a way to reveal my true age+my internal sad boy rage…) Dashboard confessional…

BRO… I just re listened to them the other day & was like “YEP not only does this STILL hold up…. they just MIGHT be 1 of the few bands who I 100% ALWAYS prefer their The LIVE VERSIONS/demos to their more polished studio versions… ESPECIALLY the OG ‘ screaming infidelities’

Idk… that voice..Chris Cabrerra is at his absolute best w/nothing more than a guitar & the sheer agony/pain in his voice…

(This bitter pill still puts me on my ass after all these years)

But that whole MTV unplugged album….Dear God

SO many good performances came outta that series.
Probably one they should bring back… but that would mean MTV would have to go back to covering music lol.

Gotta say that’s why I Love YT… rather than being stuck to 1 version/what came on the album, u get to pick & choose for yourself/compare.
It’s pretty rowdy.

I love this song because it can mean so many things depending on who listens to it

About a guy who kills himself and he’s still in the house

The image of the airplanes in the end is so powerful...
This song sends chills down my spine.

Tor Parsons

Kind of Neutral Milk Hotel-esque in the lyrical aspect. Airplanes, family, and death.

Perdidit_Deus

This song makes my soul weep. I don't know why.

Lord Kellen

@Perdidit_Deus This is so relatable, me too man...

Jake O'Bryan

Same. You don't need to explain🙂👍

Perdidit_Deus

I listened to this while going through a hard time. This reminds me of Autumn, the only season I feel at home. It reminds me that I've been through worse th a what I've been through now, and I can make it. It reminds me that I still have dreams I need to live.
