Daddy Issues
The Neighbourhood Lyrics

I taste you on my tongue
You ask me what I'm thinking about
I'll tell you that I'm thinking about
Whatever you're thinking about
Tell me something that I'll forget
And you might have to tell me again
It's crazy what you'll do for a friend
Go ahead and cry, little girl
Nobody does it like you do
I know how much it matters to you
I know that you got daddy issues
And if you were my little girl
I'd do whatever I could do
I'd run away and hide with you
I love that you got daddy issues
And I do too
I tried to write your name in the rain
But the rain never came
So I made with the sun
The shame always comes at the worst time
You ask me what I'm thinking about
I'll tell you that I'm thinking about
Whatever you're thinking about
Tell me something that I'll forget
And you might have to tell me again
It's crazy what you'll do for a friend
Go ahead and cry, little girl
Nobody does it like you do
I know how much it matters to you
I know that you got daddy issues
And if you were my little girl
I'd do whatever I could do
I'd run away and hide with you
I love that you got daddy issues
I keep on tryin' to let you go
I'm dyin' to let you know
How I'm getting on
I didn't cry when you left at first
But now that you're dead, it hurts
This time, I gotta know
Where did my daddy go?
I'm not entirely here
Half of me has disappeared
Go ahead and cry, little boy
You know that your daddy did too
You know what your mama went through
You gotta let it out soon, just let it out
Go ahead and cry, little girl
Nobody does it like you do
I know how much it matters to you
I know that you got daddy issues
And if you were my little girl
I'd do whatever I could do
I'd run away and hide with you
I love that you got daddy issues
And I do too
If you were my little girl
I'd do whatever I could do
I'd run away and hide with you
I love that you got daddy issues
And I do too
"Daddy Issues" by The Neighbourhood is a song that speaks of a complex relationship between two individuals, one of whom has unresolved issues with their father. The song begins with the line "Take you like a drug, I taste you on my tongue," which is suggestive of a passionate, addictive dynamic between the two characters. Throughout the song, the singer tries to understand the other person's thoughts and feelings, asking them what's on their mind and willing to listen to their problems. At one point, the singer acknowledges that they also have "daddy issues," implying a shared emotional burden between the two.
The chorus of the song centers around the line "I know that you got daddy issues," emphasizing the pain and trauma that the person with those issues carries with them. However, despite the serious subject matter, the song is ultimately a message of support and empathy. The singer assures the person with daddy issues that they are not alone and that they would do anything to help them. The final lines of the song, which repeat the chorus, are a reaffirmation of this message.
Overall, "Daddy Issues" is a poignant and empathetic exploration of the complex emotions that can arise from a difficult relationship with a parent.

When i discovered this song i was in a deep phase of depression. This song literally describes my family situation. I used to think my dad was a wonderful man but when i grew older i realised how shitty he was. This song literally saved my life,it’s like a warm blanket that hugs me in my lowest moments. I could really say that this song saved my life.
