This is incredibly complicated music..but it’s not mannered or forced. I’ve never heard bass, guitar, drums, vocals all working in perfect time like this. It’s incredible.

I know. It's mindblowing. It's like a few different songs going on at once.

Another Beefheart song like that is Owed T'Alex.

This is about as good as "Expressionist" Music gets!! HE'S sayin' it when the band isn't. The BAND'S sayin' it when he's not. Then they BOTH say it together. Then NEITHER is sayin' it!! Been diggin' "The Beef" for decades! I'm glad this stuff EVER happened!!!

I don't have the ability to describe how incredible this song actually is. Probably my favorite Beefheart song along with Sue Egypt.
And Suction Prints.

My favorite track on this album and one of my favorites of his entire output. Love the way the rhythm guitar starts coming in toward the end. Had the LP years ago, not sure what happened to it, but found it on CD (not that easy to find) and can now play it when alone in the car (my wife wouldn’t care to hear it around the house).

My God, music from the other side of the fence. It is so intricate, building up and tearing down structures, even the spaces left between the notes are masterful. The lyrics near on R rated if you catch his drift shes a dirty girl. Most of the general public couldn't handle each section singularly; let alone fully composed and dripping like this masterpiece.

the drumming and the bass line are sensational.

This is thousands of miles beyond amazing! Almost makes me sad and fills me with a strange yearning that I've missed something. However, it's too dense to listen to more than twice in a row.

One of my fav's. Captain Beefheart is someone I'd compare to Charles Ives, as a composer. Much of their music were radically different and often sounded like chaos to the immediate public of their time. Something that strikingly original often has that effect on people. But, like Ives, over time Beefheart is more appreciated now. Trout Mask Replica is widely considered a masterpiece now by music scholars. Most of us here, I suspect, could have told those professors that decades ago.

Funnily enough "The Blimp" from Trout Mask Replica had the original title of Charles Ives when played by The Mothers
