Nera
Rome Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

in this age of corn
we burn out
we are burning out
fly the flags
our kings slain
one by one
we are hungry
we want revenge
we want peace
in this age of corn
we are burning out
with this fire
in this retreat
we are burning out

Overall Meaning

The song "Nera" by Rome talks about the current state of society, where people are burning out in an age where everything seems to revolve around materialistic things. The lyrics denote a feeling of unrest and dissatisfaction towards the current system, with every individual seeking revenge and peace. The symbolism of flags flying and kings slain is evocative of a revolution, with every person ready to fight for their beliefs - whether it is changing the system or finding inner peace.

The repetition of the line "we are burning out" further reinforces the idea of a society on the brink of collapse, with every individual working hard to achieve success but ultimately burning themselves out. The reference to "this age of corn" indicates a world where everything has been reduced to a commodity, and people are losing touch with their inner selves. The ending lines, "in this retreat, we are burning out," suggest that despite people taking the time to step back and reflect, they are unable to escape the relentless pace of modern life.

Beautiful album! Can I know the album's mean? I listened "A Noi É Mancata Soltanto La Fortuna Non Il Coraggio". The italian original sentence:"Mancò la fortuna, non il valore" ( the luck missed, not the worth), is written on the sacrarium of the italian deads in El Alamein.
