no, and Itchycoo Park is still one of my top 10 songs, ever. Recall the first time I heard it. Was in I think '68, was on the radio, was in my car I had just bought, a '61 Pontiac FireChief. Try that one for one large chunk of metal, and about 8 mpg! Marriott was a huge talent, and to me, never got his due, sort of like Ray Davies, and Dave, his brother, a top guitarist, but seems we never heard that, but it is there, so obvious, just like Marriott.

Stewart & Wood are both sensational musicians & the Faces were an excellent band, but Steve Marriott & this original Small Faces lineup were unreal- absolute innovators way way different than any other group of the 60’s era.They were so unique.

I still love music, but when this came out I was 10 and I feel, at my most receptive to melody, harmony, rhythm etc. This track had a huge effect on me. The Small Faces were simply brilliant and it is so sad to read that they were not given the right opportunities etc, around the time of this single release.
There were 2 other records that re-create that exact time for me very strongly: 'Something Here in My Heart' by the Paper Dolls and 'She Flies like a Bird' by Honeybus.
It was a heady time for pop music, which I sort of obsessed over [when I suppose I should have been doing schoolwork - or kicking a ball about...].

@Max Sugar I like a lot of different music styles : From gems like this one ( and many others ) from the 60's , to David Bowie in the late 60's and the 70's ( mostly his Ziggy Stardust period ) , and a lot of other musicians in the 70's , over to British punk and goth , and a lot of British pop bands in the 80's like Depeche mode ,Simple minds , The Associates , The Human League , soft cell ( yes i could go on forever ), and Ska bands like Madness , The Specials , Bad Manners etc. , to Muse , Suede , Coldplay etc. , Britpop and German techno from the 90's , but there is only very few bands that is formed after the 00's that i like . :-)

To a Sandy Pompili I met him in a dingy night club in Dudley England in 1985 what a nice bloke he was ! We was all mods from Birmingham England he ŵas telling us how he nearly got crushed in a car! Apparently some fans got a bit carried away, but he and the rest of the Small Faces came away unscathed. He had a group called the packet of three then it was a good concert as well ! That was 45 years ago but the memories are still there! Kind regards from Kevin Simpson. If there’s any old mods from Birmingham still about I’m still alive and kicking! And to think Jagger turned Steve down from joining the Stones! when Mick Taylor announced he was leaving the Rolling Stones in December of 1974 and so the Stones began auditions for a new guitarist and eventually selecting Ronnie Wood. I think Jagger didn't want the competition. This was documented in Keith Richards autobiography.

It was done as joke ('artful dodger' on steroids) and then the record company released it without their permission. Massive hit though (No. 2 in the UK) and highest ranking apart from "All Or Nothing". Love It!
