Great classic instro! The guitarist is Bill
Pitman, of the studio band, the Wrecking Crew. Pitman died in 2022,
at age 102, making him the longest
living guitarist.
@TheMyndsurfer
One of the coolest, greatest instrumentals of all time. He took Duane Eddy's 'The Lonely One' and rode it down the Pipeline!!
@richgriff4645
Fantastic Tune. Lost in the many classics of the 60's but needs to be heard.
@peterzang
Yes. And I'm here to tell you, if Jack only did "Expecting To Fly," he'd be a legend. Nice to go to a site, Wayne, where there isn't a bunch of hate speech and racism. Just music. What a freaking relief. Cheers.
@stewartfraser2574
This is sublime, it leads you through the most sophisticated and beautiful development of a simple theme, the instrumental arrangement is wonderful, and the whole sound has an incredible weight, rooted in the bass guitar, just brilliant and genius 💖
@Highland804
Another Wrecking Crew Masterpiece. God, they were so good!
@RonaldVaughan
You mean (as Carol Kaye would insist) "The Clique".
@arvidsmith1038
@Ronald Vaughan could that be Carole in the bass lead ? Glen Campbell borrowed her Danrlectro 6 string bass for his solo on "Witchita Lineman"....
@markconnorsmusic
@Arvid Smith I think it might be Bill Pitman
@ischmidt
@Mark Connors It is (plus Hal Blaine on drums and Tommy Tedesco and Glen Campbell on guitar). The Wrecking Crew documentary site has the original union sheet for this record: http://www.wreckingcrewfilm.com/afmcontracts/Nitzsche,Jack_LonelySurfer_WholeAlbum.pdf
