Hard to Explain
The Strokes Lyrics

Was an honest man
Asked me for the phone
Try to take control
Oh I don't see it that way
I don't see it that way

We shared some ideas
All obsessed with fame
Says we're all the same
Oh I don't see it that way
I don't see it that way

Raised in Carolina
I'm not like that
Tryin' to remind her
When we go back

I missed the last bus
I'll take the next train
I try, but you see

It's hard to explain
I said the right things
But act the wrong way
I like it right here

But I cannot stay
I watched the TV
Forget what I'm told
Well I am too young

And they are too old
The joke is on you
This place is a zoo
You're right, it's true

He said he can't decide
I shake my head to say
Everything's just great
Oh I just can't remember
I just can't remember

Raised in Carolina (she says)
I'm not like that
Trying to remind her
When we go back

I say the right things
But act the wrong way
I like it right here
But I cannot stay

I watched the TV
Forget what I'm told
I am too young
And they are too old

I'll make it you see
I'm ever so pleased
Pretend to be nice
So I can be mean

I missed the last bus
I'll take the next train
I try, but you see
It's hard to explain

I see many comments explaining how they found The Strokes. Here is my story

I discovered them through a friend of mine, who recommended me Is This It? about 5 or 6 years ago. At that time I only listened to electronic music (and nothing but electronic music)
I listened to the album and since I did not connect with myself, months later I listen Hard to Explain on the radio in my dad's car and I think I would not have noticed what I was hearing had it not been for that pause after that catchy chorus, there I finally connected by complete not only with this song but I went straight to listen to the complete album.

And I think I can say that specifically this song changed my life, I went from listening to the electronic to 80% of my iTunes library being just rock, from wearing super skinny jeans, bright colored shirts to wear black, leather jackets, leaving my hair grow long and even buying my first guitar.

This band has been the soundtrack of my teenage years

This group has too many good songs but always, always, until the end of my days Hard to Explain will be my favorite, it literally changed my life The Strokes changed my life in just 3 months.

And for my luck, all of my friends enjoy this band as much as I do.

Thank you Julian, Albert, Nick, Fab & Nikolai
Dearly a Fan.

(Sorry for the grammar mistakes, I was in a hurry lol)
