The first time I heard this song, I was on a summer road trip with two friends. We were driving through the Alberta prairies, weaving through canola fields and cottonwood copses towards a festival site down near the border. I remember watching endless fields of yellow flowers pass by, laughing and bantering and thinking something to the tune of "What a perfect song for this." Eventually, we stumbled upon a dirt road that led down into a valley belonging to what I think was the Oldman River, or perhaps one of its tributaries. We parked, got out, and ended up spending some six or seven hours soaking up the sun. Caught a pile of crayfish, built a fire to cook them over. It was a genuinely perfect day. And whenever I hear this song, I go back to that. Flying down dusty roads. Catching crays. Swimming in the river. Dancing.

I really love this song.

For people wondering what happened to the girl:

I believe t hat the girl was just a part of his story, but he fell in love with her. The ending depicts him drowning in the reality of her not existing.

I believe this because the girl almost seems like a dream throughout the music video.
Also because nothing sexual happened between them, it was only romantic

I found this song while I was camping and we were roasting smores around the fire while laughing about a joke my father made it felt like the perfect time the sun was just going down there was a nice breeze that kept us at a decent temperature and it just made you feel like your home

this is the kind of song you listen to on your record player early in the morning while sitting outside drinking coffee. okay, maybe not, but this song (and video) has an ethereal feel to it that really does seem too perfect. four years later and I'm still obsessed. "It takes me away" is the main message of this song, which means that the singer is insane about somebody, and needs to be hospitalized, literally. Likewise, "would it be much better if I knew nothing about you" means because of you, I became an insane, literally. Hence, in order to become sane again, the singer is going for treatment.
