After The Lovin'
Engelbert Humperdinck Lyrics

After the lovin'
With a song I just wrote yesterday
And I hope you can hear
What the words and the music have to say.
It's so hard to explain
Everything that I'm feelin'
Face to face I just seem to go dry.
'Cause I love you so much
That the sound of your voice can get me high.
Thanks for takin' me (Thanks for takin' me)
On a one way trip to the sun (On a one way trip to the sun)
And thanks for turnin' me (Turnin' me)
Into a someone. (Someone)
So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
I brush back the hair from your eyes.
And the love on your face
Is so real that it makes me want to cry.
And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new.
Oh, but after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you.
So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
I brush back the hair from your eyes.
And the love on your face
Is so real that it makes me want to cry.
And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new.
Oh, but after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you.
Yes, after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you.
Hmmm, after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you

Simply AWESOME! When i was doing "one man shows" (vocal/keyboard/guitar/computer), that song was my last song of the evening! Even if i was singing in a rock bar/dance pub/wedding etc.. My pitch was: " Remember crooners guys? Well i got one for you as the last song of the evening blahblahblah...
Then i stopped doing "gigs" and stopped playing music for 5 years. After doing it for over 3 decades! Then one day, i finally had the chance to go see one of my idol! ENGELBERT at The Capitole in Quebec City (in 2018 if i recall).
That changed my life...
I said to myself, if that guy can still do this at 82, well DO IT TOO (i'm way younger than him by the way hahahaha)!
So i started "The Eighties Are Back" project (which has nothing to do with this kind of music to be honest lol)
Tho i do i have song written for him but never sent it? It's a slow song talking about Alzheimer and people/family struggling with it.
Maybe i should?
Anyway, hope he never DIES!
Long live ENGIE

I listen almost every day to this song. It was the favorite for my husband and me. He's been gone close to 5 years and still is the love of my life. No one can and no one will ever replace him for me. This song continues to bring back my wonderful memories!!!

My mother loved Engelbert especially this song. She came down with dementia. And i was lucky enough to have the privilege of taking care of her. We kept her radio on in the kitchen tuned to an oldies station. And they would play this song at least once a week. When it came on i would get her out of her chair amd dance with her. It was the hardest and and the most wonderful time of my life. Moms gone now 1year in march. And this song I'll forever hold in my heart for her!!!

You were her angel. I know how hard it is to take care of someone suffering from this vicious disease. She was so blessed to have a son like you.
