Sakura
OROCHI Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in OROCHI's song Sakura paint a vivid picture of a beautiful but fleeting moment in time. The song is a wistful reflection on past memories as well as an ode to the beauty of sakura or cherry blossoms. The opening verse describes a misty morning in an ancient capital city, where the singer watches a solitary flower dance beneath a red drum bridge. The singer's heart is weighed down by an unending pain that blooms like a red flame, contrasting with the silver-colored streets and petals scattered like fleeting memories.

The second verse reflects on chasing dreams in a city that runs ahead of time, and the fading sound of a fleeting koto melody. Whenever the singer looks up at the moon's pale blue hue, they recall the memory of a loved one and cling to falling sakura petals. The chorus expresses the singer's desire to keep their memories alive and savour them forever, recalling the blooming flowers of the moon and the feelings associated with them. The third verse talks about the scent of tears and the feeling of wandering through a meadow that expands in purple. The song ends with the same melancholic longing that suffuses throughout the entire song, referencing the burning flame in the singer's chest and the sound of cherry blossom petals.

I saw these guys when they were very new at a gig in Melbourne Australia. Unbelievable to watch and listen to, so I bought the EP at the door. The band were all meeting people and saying hi so I got my EP signed by the lot of them. Still have it. I’ll never forget their set, but I couldn’t tell you who they were supporting. That’s how good they were
